I don’t know how this is sustainable long term, and I’m in the for let the players get compensated camp.

I'm in the same camp as you, but there needs to be regulation for some semblance of parity.

Here's a riddle:

What would you call Professional Football without a draft or salary cap?

College Football.

Begs the question: Is it being paid? Everywhere, nowhere, depends???

If this is actually common place it’s entirely not sustainable and a waste of money ….

It’s not even a wise investment to pay $5K for a player to visit who may not even commit…

None of this is sustainable…throwing money at a HS player who may never play a meaningful snap …

If these practices are all now common place ..I hope the whole mess collapses on itself..and it likely will…

There’s not an infinite pile of money …this was never the intent of NIL..

It is only sustainable for private $ boosters/collectives that have the resources and conviction to win in this new environment. Some schools check those boxes and are doing this as we speak. It is the wild west out there with no oversight. Of course, results are not guaranteed. However, there is a high probability of sustained winning if your team is stocked with 5 star Jimmy's and Joe's.

Sounds more like a shakedown than a recruiting visit.

at somepoint, these kids will realize they are entertainers

Sep 20, 2023, 4:03 PM

and 99% of them won't make it pro.
and those fronting the bill will get tired of paying it

i just want the NFL to stop requiring 3 years of college

Sep 20, 2023, 4:04 PM

when that happens. this whole NIL thing is over

they want money -- they want to be professionally compensated. Man up bro. Get out there and play with the men that are so violent they are still in the league

$$$ money talks
@ NFL let's make this thing interesting

On the other hand, the one and done has kind of ruined college hoops to an extent.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that's because they have to play 1 year elsewhere

Sep 20, 2023, 4:25 PM

because 18 is too young or something like that. It wasn't like that 20 years ago. 18 years old use to be able to play pro.

The NCAAM just provided a gap year destination spot

The NFL gets to keep all of the money if they let

Sep 20, 2023, 4:28 PM [ in reply to Re: i just want the NFL to stop requiring 3 years of college ]

18 year olds play pro
and they get to cycle through players faster

it's like a free money machine

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think he's saying to jump straight from HS to NFL

Sep 20, 2023, 4:31 PM [ in reply to Re: i just want the NFL to stop requiring 3 years of college ]

that idea has some merit

It’s not legal to give high school athletes NIL money in SC…for those that might wonder if we do it.

Schools that don't want to pay, don't have to pay. Spending $5k on a recruit who ends up going somewhere else is nothing compared to the multi-million dollar buyouts that fired coaches get.

I don't think anyone wants to stop it. Too many people are using college football to make $ or further their business interest. Unfortunately it here to stay.

We all are still watching. Colorado vs Colorado st was one of the most watched regular season games in college football history. Cha Ching.

Dion 's sunglasses sold another 4 million worth of product after he was on gameday. His son is driving a 190k Mercedes. That he bought himself. Dion son has 4 mill in nil deals.

It's just show business now.

what's Dion's son's name?***

That is ridiculous. You can't read an article and proclaim it applies to everyone.
