Excuses

Dec 2, 2013, 11:14 AM

I've seen a bunch of posters on here saying that we basically handed them 17 points. After watching replays we didnt hand them anything, they took it from us.

Here is boyds fumble.

Adam humphries fumble.

I am sorry but that right there is on the coaching staff. Do we not stress ball security especially in a rivalry game. We didnt just trip and drop the ball for them. We let them rip it from us. I may just be still recovering from the loss but I hope theres some changes made.

So , with no knowledge of the facts whatsoever,

you think we might have the only coaches in the nation that don't stress ball security? Mistakes are on the players.

and mistakes by players are on the coaches.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Once the game starts, the player have to excurse and finish each part of their individual assignment. Coaches are not allowed to hold or carry the ball during plays. Its up to the players from that point. You can coach all day and night, buy the best training equipment, show him how its done correctly. Once the ball snaps its all up to him. Phyiscally and Mentally. A Conference don't make you tough. But it can make you or break you if you are not mentally ready.

Not saying that but when you have 6 turnovers in one game to a rival it makes you wonder if we are stressing the fundamentals. Boyd should not be trying to fight for one more yard while holding the ball with one hand.

Stressing the fundimentals is one thing, exicution is another. Coaches don't exicute, players do. Humphries hasn't muffed 2 punts before in his whole career. On the first, Bryant was completely out of control.
On Boyds fumble even with two hands on the ball it is probably ripped away from him.
Every mistake is not bad coaching, nor is it always poor exicution. Same way with good plays. Too many people say wins are on the players, losses on the coaches. Neither is 100% true.
