Should the AAC get an Auto-Bid to the CFP playoffs if...

They were to go to an 8 team format?

It would really help their recruiting and this year they have some very good teams. Plus would ad some extra excitement with a Cinderella story some years.

Or do they just give the top ranked non power 5 conference team an auto-bid?

No more than 2 teams from any conference should be a rule if went to 8. That would solve the SEC getting in 3 plus teams.

1. The five P5 conference champs are in
2. No more than one at-large team per conference
3. Top group of five team gets in, if ranked in top 15 or 16.

This would take 90% of the current subjectivity out of the hands of the committee.

This is more or less how I always saw the perfect playoff draw

-the champ of each big 5 conference
-top non big 5 team (provided they have a certain ranking, like top 15)
-2 at large picks chosen by the committee (3 if a non big 5 team doesn't qualify)


I like the idea of no more than 2 per conference. I'll be adding that to my format from now on, so thanks!

That sounds nice but think about what that will do to non conference scheduling. Those games will mean absolutely nothing.

With the current system all 12 games matter and the quality teams you play OOC matter.

I wish they would expand the playoffs and do automatic bids for conference champs.

8 team play off would be 1 acc, 1big10, 1big12, 1 pac12, and 4 sec teams... Duh***
