Recruiting Misses Mean Something

Our 2021 class we swung and missed on Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, plus a few others. We immediately went into fallback mode and settled for Bubba Chandler, a high ceiling baseball player. Well we all know how this worked out, yep, he pursed baseball no surprise. This then dominoed into lack of viable QB depth last year and then again this year.

There are so many small circumstances that have led us to where our QB room is today. I am not ready to throw the towel in on Cade but it seems like he could have used another year to physically and mentally get better prepared to be QB1.

I think we’re recruiting fairly well not as good as years passed, but we still are mainly consisted of four and five star players. I don’t think we’re missing on recruiting. I think our recruits are declining when they get under our coaching staff if you want to be honest.

I couldn't agree more on the development issue, my point being, we didn't even get a 2021 QB into the room. He wasn't viable as he as going the baseball route from the start.

You can say you missed on a guy here and there, but when most of your recruits underperform it's something else.

The issue I have with QB recruiting is you go all in one 1 QB and promise him you are not recruiting another. What if that QB doesn't pan out and is not as good of a QB as you think then you are stuck with using him or a walk-on on scholarship, or a freshmen. Just like this year Dabo will not take a QB this class and has 1 for next class.
