Question for those with a naturalistic worldview
Apr 7, 2020, 5:32 PM
|
|
Do you value human life over animal life?
Does this pandemic upset you more than seeing cows or chickens slaughtered for meat?
Do you think fishing is barbaric and should be illegal?

Never, ever, never
Never, love Elk, rabbit and duck hunting and killing to my daily/season max.
To catch a Bull Dolphin, once, it will change your life. Go off Cape Hatteras and fish for 2-3 days straight, you catch #### that tastes and looks unreal.
I value my family over anyone else. I say open this Country up. If you are weak, stay home. It would be nice to watch a Clemson game without the weak that cannot stand up the whole game........or ##### at you cause they saw your mini-bottle of Jim in your pocket. I think I just channeled @lLakebum1®

We have Dorado about 5 miles off the coast here, every nice restaurant serves them fresh and never frozen.. However, Snook is hands down the best piece of fish you will ever have. they are elusive and have strict limits. But if you are ever lucky enough catch a legal size, you are in for a treat.
And to the OP, I love to fish.. However, cutting down on Beef consumption would do the world a tremendous amount of good on many levels. This is not some insane love of cows, but an environmental and health issue.

Ok but this is more on a moral level.
Why do you think it’s ok to slaughter a chicken but not a human being? Both are just a giant ball of cells reacting off of random genetic mutations. One just happens to be part of a species that is more evolved.

Probably because it was more advantageous to not eat people who could help you survive. Our morals evolved over time too. Nobody said evolution was pretty.
Oh wait no, a dude climbed a mountain and god wrote it on a stone tablet. Yeah, nevermind, that sounds more reasonable. What was I thinking?

As usual the point goes right over your head.
Why is it morally acceptable to kill an animal but not a human?
In your worldview their lives mean exactly the same thing.

Um no, that’s just a claim you’re making. I never said their lives mean the same.
I said we are related, which we are.

Your worldview says exactly that. The world and everything in it is a giant cosmic accident. When something dies it is as if it never existed whether it’s your grandmother or a stray dog on the side of the road.

except climate change. For all of his wisdom and intellectual gifts, Carlin did not believe in it.
But Liberal or Conservative, here is one of his bits we can all agree on, well maybe except a few exceptions. Pay especial attention to the 3:34 mark, this is why trump wants to cut the payroll tax, not to help workers, but to help businesses and bankrupt it.

At what point on the evolutionary timeline did it become frowned upon to eat other humans?

Gotta say I valued my dog Rocky over a bunch of humans, do not get me started on my Maine Coon Gibbs. Plus I am convinced both to be smarter than a lot of humans I see or come in contact with daily.
7.5 billion humans on the planet and a goodly portion are meat sacks.

It would be practical for the human race to thin the herd. Overpopulation is set to become a real issue for future generations.
Seems like you would be in favor of this. As soon as person dies it’s like they never existed anyway right?

You have the reading comprehension skills of an ape. Maybe you’re a transitional form.
I’m asking you to explain why human life is more important than the life of any of the other species?

Danny, I think you are associating some extreme perspectives with ALL naturalists. It ain't so.
BTW, I think this a general problem with all of us. We want to label a fairly diverse group with the most extreme of positions - keeps us from having to actually think about the issue.
