The only poll that matters is the Harris Poll, and it doesn't come out until mid October. If we beat Notre Dame this week, we'll be right where we want to be.

At the very least we would move ahead of ND and FSU. There's a very good chance we pass Utah and LSU as well. UGA and UCLA could be passed, but doubtful.

over ND; maybe to 7 if the stars align. The consensus won't be that we are that good, but that ND is not what we thought (remember how they were lucky to beat UVA, and had all they could handle against GT who just lost to Duke - or so it will go?). ND will drop significantly if we win.

can do is win and hope that's enough. However, polls do influence perception, and that perception very well could impact our chances of making the playoff as well as bowls.

Just win Baby, If we win then the polls don't matter. No way an undefeated team from the power 5 doesn't get into the playoffs. There is no way more than 3 teams finish the year undefeated. So win and we are in. Besides Michigan may end up blowing the B1G up this year. I see them giving Mich State and Ohio State a run for their money. In week 1 after they lost to Utah, everyone wrote them off, Since then they have won their games impressively. Harbaugh, has them winning big since the Utah game.

under consideration, which is very likely, then what? Perception as influenced by polls will matter. I agree, of course if we win them all, we are probably in, but my point has nothing to do with my or your faith in our ability to win every game, but rather the fairness and impact of polls. Some people think polls don't matter, while I think it's obvious that they do for most teams, and we may wind up as one of them.
