If the ACC allowed Clemson to keep half the bowl revenue...

May 31, 2012, 9:30 AM

I would be delighted and change my position on leaving. Elsewise, the ACC can live off basketball revenues.

AND ...... nix that 9 game conf. schedule. AND ... kick out

Yeah, that schedule's gotta go too.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that's my list also...non-negotiable

May 31, 2012, 9:47 AM [ in reply to AND ...... nix that 9 game conf. schedule. AND ... kick out ]

but I'm ambivalent on BC staying/leaving if ND would come.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pitt, Syracuse, and BC can stay - they add value to our

TV contract negotiations (more than say Wake does). But I want North / South divisions (with Miami joining BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech in the North).

So, here's my list of demands:

1. Swofford's resignation - new rule instituted that Commissioner can not be a graduate or previous employee of any member school;

2. Each school retains one-half of its Bowl revenues;

3. North-South divisions as set forth above. Each team plays an 8 game conference schedule - six division games and rotating two games against other division opponents.

It is a very simple, sensible list to which only a complete idiot would object . . .

Gentlemen, lets get the money now and wait...

May 31, 2012, 10:15 AM

and do this defection thing over again until we get the rest of this stuff.

if we get to keep 1/2 the bowl revenue for football would the basketball schools get to keep a disproportionate about of the BB $$?? Make the final four and get to keep 20-25% of the BB $$??

I would go to a sixteen team conference ASAP by seeking new membership from either ND, Penn. St., Louisville or S. Florida. I do not want Rutgers, UConn, Temple or Cincy.

I would also approach the Gator Bowl once Swoffie was gone and seek to put an ACC team back into the contract.
Get rid of the Sun Bowl and a few others. Otherwise I like all the previous recommendations given by other posters.

Go Tigers!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not excited at all about Rutgers or UConn in the ACC but

May 31, 2012, 2:20 PM

I would take them over South Florida in a second. My preference would be Notre Dame and Penn State. I would take either with UConn, but it is actually Rutgers that brings more TV $ into the equation than UConn. Louisville would be an acceptable addition as well. If you added any two of these schools into a "Northern Division," then UVA could play in the Southern Division that would be the pre-2003 ACC minus Maryland. The Northern Division would be the best schools in the old Big East plus Maryland and hopefully either Notre Dame or Penn State.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It would have to be ND and someone....

May 31, 2012, 2:24 PM

What about Navy? They already play ND, Wake, Duke, GT...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Notre Dame and Navy would be interesting. Trips to

May 31, 2012, 2:43 PM

Annapolis would be my new favorite ACC road trip. A great place. Navy fits like a jigsaw piece geographically, is a national brand, and plays decent football. The beatdowns the Midshipmen would endure on the basketball court would be tough.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Navy basketball beatdowns could help our record....***

LOL... true that...

May 31, 2012, 3:19 PM

But we have a good coach and I think he's doing a great job so far.... much to look forward to.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

9 games is too much ACC. It also produces an extra loss for

May 31, 2012, 10:27 AM [ in reply to AND ...... nix that 9 game conf. schedule. AND ... kick out ]

half the teams. Like we (any team) need anymore losses coming out of the ACC. Plus, I would rather play a competitive team outside the conference.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Still leaves 3 games for outside competition...

May 31, 2012, 11:09 AM

that .....

Half the bowl revenue is a drop in the bucket

May 31, 2012, 10:39 AM

Look at the bowl payouts. If we accepted half the bowl revenue and didn't look at other options, those leaders should be fired on the spot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Interesting thing about keeping half of the revenue.

May 31, 2012, 10:56 AM

From 2004-2010:

We recieved $18.5M in bowl payouts
Keeping half of our money we would have made $14.9M

After 2011:

Our total payout increased to $21.9M
Keeping half of our money we would be at $27.8M

Point is, we have benefited from revenue sharing. I'm sure it all balances out when you consider whatever money they make off of basketball.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Have all the lists you want, but...

May 31, 2012, 11:10 AM

if we have nowhere to go we have no stick to fight with. And right now we are stickless......So our demands would be laughed at. Right now the ACC office holds all the cards...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, perhaps we would put up with half-azzed coaches...

May 31, 2012, 2:27 PM [ in reply to Interesting thing about keeping half of the revenue. ]

five years too long if we ate only what we killed.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Careful what you wish for

May 31, 2012, 11:29 AM

If the new 7-5 rule goes into effect a 6-6 team isn't going bowling. Isn't it the BIG 12 commish pushing for this new win 7 games to be eligible rule ??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That wouldbe great for only the BCS and maybe the Peach

May 31, 2012, 11:30 AM

Bowl, but all other bowl tie-ins for the ACC suck and half the payout for one of those probably ain't even a million.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: If the ACC allowed Clemson to keep half the bowl revenue...

May 31, 2012, 11:45 AM

It's not that good an idea. The only time you'd get significant bowl payout would be to win the ACC CG and go to the Orange Bowl. Also, it would take away revenue from the middle and bottom of the ACC, making them even weaker in football.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Can UNC and Wake keep their's also? Or just us?***

If we continued to be mediocre we'd starve. If you don't have a winning coach you replace him.
