People who don't think Jeff Scott can't be OC

Just because he is a WR coach and has NO coordinator experience!
Funny, I swore there was a WR coach with NO HEAD COACHING experience that has beat 2 National Title coaches, taken a team to two BCS bowls and finished Top 10 two years in a row.
For the life of me, I can't think of his name!
Long story short, I bet ya'll are the same crowd that said "The Chad" would not make it here with his High School offense.
Put the keyboards down armchair QB's.

I'm sure he's learned a lot from Chad these past 3 years...

He'd be more than capable imo. After all, Morris himself would admit that he wasn't a very good coach til he got up with Malzahn.

We've been pretty fortunate with the Dabo hire....

but there is no question that it was a huge gamble and while I'm glad it has paid off, that kind of occurrence is more the exception rather than the norm.

I agree with you.

But Jeff Scott has been on Chad's hip the last few years.
If we don't pony up and offer him soon, he may get a coordinator job at a smaller D1 school.
I know Scott loves Clemson but if's he's not going to get chances here, he will start to look around.
His recruiting is A +.

risk and who else is out there.
Take a step back and breathe. Clemson will make the best decision.

The fear of reliving the Napier debacle....

is why most people are concerned about promoting Scott.

Which to be honest, is a reasonable concern.

Nobody wants to lose both Morris and Scott but I trust Clemson will make the right decision going forward to lead the offense. I think they will take their time and see potential candidates outside of Clemson that are avaliable at the time.

Jeff Scott has had a couple good years of tutelage under Morris and is probably ready to step into that role. Napier was simply thrown into the OC role with no experience, no mentoring, nothing.

I thought Chad was bad hire. I was wrong. Whoever Dabo chooses we should support, he knows more than us people posting.

Dabo has beaten 4 National Title Coaches...
Jan 17, 2014, 12:02 PM
|
|
Jimbo, Les Miles, Urban Meyer, and Spurrier.
I would trust Scott as an OC, but I'm not so certain about him as a QB coach. I would think a replacement hire on offense would be more in the QB direction with Scott keeping his WR emphasis, like Venables' role with the LBs.
