People dumping Scott as possible OC

Dec 2, 2014, 12:47 PM

are the sames one that criticized us promoting an inexperienced WR coach to run the program.

Boy, were they wrong.

I also bet they are the same that scorned same WR coach for hiring an inexperienced coordinator with a "high school system."

Head coach now, another strike on the dumpers.

Now we shouldn't hire a WR coach to run an offense he's extremely familiar with?

I hope he gets a shot or another school will eventually give him a chance.

If hired, take care of business Scott.

And strike out these dumpers.

Sounds official. Prove em wrong Scott

If true..

Personally, I think he'll be fine

I think the "dumpers" you refer to are nervous because it took Dabo a while to learn on the job, and in some regards he is probably still learning. We don't have that luxury with a new OC. We need to win now. If Jeff Scott does a great job right away, then great. But if it takes him a couple years to hit his stride, then that is no bueno.

I'd say that is spot on. I was a big supporter of Dabo to get the HC job back in the day, but I feel very cautious about having Scott as an OC. We have the money and prestige to lure a proven OC to take over. Scott is in no way proven as an OC. No one is going to give him time to grow into the job around here with the talent we have stockpiled.

Having said that, Dabo has shown that he is really great at making hires, so if Scott is named OC, we all need to get behind the decision and support the #### out of our tigers and tiger coaches like the majority of us tend to do.

I don't know about folks dumping the idea of Scott as OC - but I do think it is a valid question. Personally I am supportive of Scott as OC.

Even in Dabo's tenure as HC - there were big hits and a few misses. An inexperienced Napier did not work out but an inexperienced Morris did. An experienced Kevin Steele did not work out but an experienced Venables did. I understand these example aren't exactly apples to apples but they are close.

Anyway just some of my 2 cent ramblings.

I don't think anyone is "dumping" on Scott. We just want to make sure we've explored all options. Morris was announced as the HC of SMU yesterday. We're a top-level program with elite offensive talent, and the resources to get the best. We should at least explore our options. If we eventually land on Scott, then fine. But at the absolute least, we should see how he does calling plays in the bowl game. To make him the OC this quick seems hasty.

debatable...but I don't attend the Church of Dabo so some may have a different perspective
