Pac 12 officials

I have always heard complaints about the refs from the Pac 12. Is it just me, or hasn't it seemed like in both of Clemson's playoff games (NCG 2016, Semi-final 2018) that the Pac12 refs have missed on some huge pass interference calls, holding calls, illegal blocks, etc. especially on big plays? Alabama only had 2 penalties in both games. Someone even pointed out all the late whistles in Monday night's game after Clemson already had forward progress whenever they were running with the ball. Not saying it's an SEC bagman, but I have always had a theory that the west coast refs probably go along with Vegas depending on which way would make certain people the most money.

What was the official call on the review of that one TD at the goal line? Was it a pick or a rub?

A pick... even the announcer said it was obvious illegal. Slick with a hold. PAC 12 officials are weak.

Good lord. This is an embarrassment to Clemson nation that you would bring this up. You do know that we do not win last year without that pick play that even Davo acknowledged?!?
Just shut up. What, are you 12 years old?

your right its water under the bridge but for the record the plays are extremely different. Renfrows TD was defensive manhandling of Scott, even if it was supposed to be a "rub" he never had the chance. "Bama guy crushed the d-back on Pain's TD, it was at the line of scrimmage and he continued 5 yards downfield into the end zone. In oder for it to be Offensive Pass Interferencee (a pick) the offensive player has to initiate contact and impede the defender past the line of scrimmage. Scott did not do that, he was tackled. Not sure what the rule implies when blocking at the line of scrimmage and continuing downfield. Bama #92. was an eligible receiver so he can be downfield seems like he would have to come off the block at 3 yards, which is about where he came off. It was not called so it is what it is.
If there was a call it may be holding on Alabama #92, Van Smith got caught inside and fell down, Chad Smith was the guy who got blocked (and possibly held)... likely would not have made a difference.
NCAA Rule 7, Article 8 Offensive pass interference by a Team A player beyond the neutral zone during a legal forward pass play in which a forward pass crosses the neutral zone is contact that interferes with a Team B eligible player. It is the responsibility of the offensive player to avoid the opponents.
It is not offensive pass interference (A.R. 7-3-8:IV, V, X, XV and XVI):
- When, after the snap, a Team A ineligible player immediately charges and contacts an opponent at a point not more than one yard beyond the neutral zone and maintains the contact for no more than three yards beyond the neutral zone.
- When two or more eligible players are making a simultaneous and bona fide attempt to reach, catch or bat the pass. Eligible players of either team have equal rights to the ball. (A.R. 7-3-8:IX)
- When the pass is in flight and two or more eligible players are in the area where they might receive or intercept the pass and an offensive player in that area impedes an opponent, and the pass is not catchable.

Rule 7, Article 8 No. 92, Team A eligible player, makes contact with Team B eligible player, Chad Smith beyond the neutral zone and into the end zone, knocking down Team B, also eligible player, Van Smith, and the ball crosses the neutral zone, it is pass interference. Penalty is First Down on the 2 yard line.

not beyond the neutral zone, he hit him pretty much at the line of scrimmage and drove him back, #23 (Van Smith) gets caught up behind the moving mass of humanity and falls down trying to go with Payne... Payne wide open... Chad Smith tries to release to go with Payne as well and he is held (?) can't release, may have changed the play may not have we will never know.
First down at 2? It's a 15 yard penalty ....

I'm not sure there's a conspiracy going on with Vegas, but one thing about officiating I can't understand: Why aren't coaches allowed to speak out against them (and if they do, they get fined)? They can hold 18 year old amateur athletes accountable, but as soon as you say anything negative about an official.... that's a big No No.... We have to protect them!
