OT.....for the golfers on the board....

I'm a weekend golfer and my Ghin is currently 5.4 even though I don't shoot that regularly. My swing speed is around 105mph and I'm having a hard time finding the right ball to play.
I'm pretty cheap by the way and play a noodle golf ball (long and soft). I've been doing a little research lately and it appears the compression on this ball is too low for my swing.
This past weekend I played a Callaway Warbird ball with higher compression and it was a positive off the tee but not much feel around greens.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a budget friendly ball that might work for me?

Get some titleist prov1 from the grey haired bearded guy on the second hole. He gets them from the pond in the first hole. Practically new, but half the price.😎

If you are a 5.4 you should not lose many balls. That fact plus the other $$ you spend on either green fees or club dues should make the cost of golf balls irrelevant. I suspect you lose at most 1 ball per round or less. At $5 for a premium ball instead of $2 to $3 for budget balls, you should not have a problem playing premium balls.

Thanks guys.....I generally don't lose many balls but I practice with the balls I play with instead of hitting range balls. I beat up a dozen balls a week from March to November.
I'll start looking for the old guy on the second hole from now on.😎😎😎

1. Do you have trouble finding the fairway off the tee?
2. Do you have too much or too little spin?
3. Do you have a high or low ball flight?
4. Does your ball stop on the green well?
5. What's more important- Keeping it out of the trees or stopping it on the green?
All of these questions matter. I play all types of balls, but my swing speed is 95, I don't generate much spin, not trying to get every last yard off the tee, and prefer a softer to a harder ball. I play Callaway ERC soft mostly. But I also have high spin balls for par 3s and low spin balls for windy days. 1 ball does not do everything.

I've been having trouble hitting the fairway with the noodle since I started using it but it works pretty well around the greens. In turn, I half to get up and down a lot for par.
I was a lot more consistent this weekend with the Callaway off the tee but it just feels hard around the greens.

That's always the tradeoff. Harder balls go further with less spin. But they have trouble stopping on the greens especially if your ball flight is mid to low.
For lower spin I like the Chrome soft LS. I also like both Pro-V and Pro-VX of course. For higher spin there's the Bridgestone Tour BXS. I have used and still use all of these. But the Chrome ERC Soft that I use more often is a great ball and significantly cheaper.

They have a dozen pack w/ the MTB Black and MTB X to see which one you like.
Parallels to the ProV1 based on performance / specs, but since they're DTC, you get a much better price point. I played Snells exclusively until this year, when they had inventory issues due to rolling out the new golf ball.
Vice is also DTC, but I've never played them. I hear they have quality issues.
Prior to discovering snell, I played the Bridgestone E12. Snell is way better, and at the same price point ~$33 / doz.
I was a 6-7 before my second daughter was born...hovering at 8-8.5 now.

The Pack will allow you to play a round with both! Both models are Golf Digest Hot List Gold Medal Winners and MTB-X is MyGolfSPy.com "Longest" and "Best value golf ball"!!

I cannot relate to your GHIN or Swing Speed . . .

as you are ~10 shots better than me and ~10 mph faster in swing speed.
I too, once used the Noodle Soft and Long . . . then progressed to the Bridgestone e6 . . . and have settled with the Srixon Q-Star Tour.
The Srixon Q-Star Tour is easily compressed and carries a bit longer for me, while still settling well on the greens. They run ~$34/dozen New . . Or . . . ~$22/dozen Used (from lostballs.com . . . if $$ is really an issue). You can even buy them “by the bucket” from lostballs.com for your practicing needs.
With your swing speed, the Z-Star Tour may be a better option . . . You’ll never know until you try them.
Keep “Whacking It About” and sharing with us!!!

about half the cost of the prov1.
I like a soft cover to spin it around the greens.
My favorite overall is the Callaway Chrome Soft (but not cheap), and they have this orange tiger paw version as well.

after years of playing the Titleist Pro V1. That said, both of these balls are upwards of $50 per dozen, so there are more budget friendly options available.
