One consideration about potentially joining the BIG instead of the SEC.

This goes for baseball AND softball. Due to harsh winters in most of the BIG venues, both baseball and softball schedules for the Tigers would most likely be HEAVILY front loaded with home games. And then, when the weather has moderated, we would have to become predominately road warriors in the latter portion of the season.
That is, unless you like playing baseball or softball in the snow?

I haven't forgotten how they hid and canceled 2 months of the football season in 2020 while the ACC and SEC played pretty much a full season.

Pretty sure a one-off decision like that won’t factor into a potential decision, though I didn’t like it either.

Michigan started their conference schedule this weekend so weather is not an issue.

And it’s raining in Clemson. Don’t play baseball in either.
That said, if it is a choice one day, SEC is definitely a much better fit for Clemson.

Better fit for football, but I think the University as a whole benefits more from affiliation with the B1G. Are we about education or football?

I’m about both. And being in a conference with Vandy, Florida and Georgia doesn’t seem like a problem academically.
Also, there are 17 sports at Clemson other than football. The only ones I can see who would benefit from a B1G association versus the SEC would be Lacrosse and Men’s Soccer.
And if we are worried about education, it’s much better for our student athletes to have less travel time and fewer missed classes. Bus trips to Athens or Columbia facilitate that better than cross country flights to Los Angeles, Eugene and Seattle.

I would much rather us be in the SEC bc when I was healthy enough to make the games, I witnessed that the more of our fans that were in the stands during away games it made our teams play harder to show the fans how much it means to them to have so many of our fans in the away stands that are there cheering for them. In the SEC it would make the travel easier for our fan to be there at the away games more so than if we were in the BIG!!!

We aren’t joining the SEC unless something changes. It’s pretty solid from sources that it will be the BIG

If Clwmson joins the big10 you will see a huge departure od student athletes via the transfer portal. Belive it or not, mnay of these athletes don't want to be on the road like that and would prefer to play a more local (driveable) schedule to allow their families to watch them. Baseball recruiting would for sure take a hit, good thing Coach Bakich is familiar with UM so he can keep recruiting those guys.

I think if we make that move it will be with three other ACC schools. I think we would play those teams annually especially in the non revenue sports.

Clemson and FSU would dominate the bat and ball sports. Massive upgrade in that regard for Big if they take us.
