Offensive expectations against Duke?

New offense and Duke is a great team. What are the offensive expectations?
I think for me balance. I would like to see good balance of rushing and passing the ball. I’d love to feel better about the wide receivers after game one.

I fully expect our offensive will be on the field when we possess possession of the ball unless our punting team or kickoff team is on the field. Thoughts?

I will say this, and believe every word of it, and it really won't matter all that much with whoever is on our schedule with the exception of ND, and maybe FSU. Garrett could put together an offensive scheme with mostly using just Shipley, Mafah, and a TE or WR, and beat about every team on our schedule, and that's bc of the really talented RBs that we have as starters....

Running the ball at will. Short pass completions over the middle. A fast tempo. A QB that is comfortable running the offense. No trick plays.
You did not ask but, defensively I expect to see a Clemson defense that has Duke off balance and behind the chains. I want to see the defensive front smother their offense. Clemson needs to dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

One of the main things IMO that Goodwin needs to really work on, and that's putting Blitz packages together and use them the way that BV did in his defense. IMO that is one of the things that made a Brent Venables defense so dangerous for our opponents. The man knew how and when to use his blitz package at the right time that created some really long 3d and 4th down conversions. He would use his blitz packages to break the back of an offense!!! BV made OC's think every minute of the game about where would, and when would his blitzes come from that would force them to punt the ball. An OC could not relax for second playing against his defense, and if they did, a blitz package would bite them, and bite them hard!!!

Love the expectation for the defense. I hope our guys are in the backfield of every opponent on a regular basis. I remember the game against Auburn in the Valley when we had 11 sacks. That’s the type of defense I hope to see this year.

My HOPE would be to go two backs qb under center. Tell all ball carriers to not run out of bounds and punish dook defenders instead. Play action passes to TEs . Pound the ball for 3qtrs. Heck shift a TE and run a few plays from the wishbone.
Put some faith in your OL and your stud RBs and TEs and challenge the O to play hard nosed football.

Duke is not a bad team and they are playing at home and have nothing to lose since most people expect Clemson to roll them.
Duke finished 9-4 and has a ton of experience back!
All of that said, I expect recruiting to show up early and often in this game. The new starters we have to break in; have played a bunch of snaps in most cases.
Our defense vs. their offense will be interesting to watch because we have film on each! Year two under Coach G will be more dominant. Combine that with more offensive firepower and it makes the defense that much tougher.
Duke has a new DC. But, we have a new OC. Neither coach can really learn anything on film; unless it's scheme-wise.
Therefore; I expect our recruiting advantage to takeover and dominate the game at some point.

Brag about Duke's offense then realize that they lack depth to contend with Clemson. I suspect they will strike early when their starters are fresh but mid 3rd quarter they will fold like a cheap suit.
Dabo will play the bench and it will look like mercy if you don't notice the scoreboard.
