What does the little "0%" number represent (see pic)? Sometimes it says something different.

I'm even more of a newbie, but this seems like a good time to ask a question too. I've lurked for years, and finally decided to join.
What are "Germans" in the context of these discussions? I see it used a lot but don't know what it means. Also, I see some people post and the message only says "nm". What is that?
Sorry for the dumb questions, but better to ask now I guess. And by the way, I attended Clemson during the Charlie Pell/Danny Ford years - I'm not a coot! That's the worse insult a man can hear!

In the movie Animal House, Belushi says "was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl harbor?" After many pointed out the error of that statement, Germans be ame shorthand for something that has already been posted.
NM stands for nothing more. Since you can't post a subject without a text, that becomes the text.
