Can Clemson offense withstand any more injuries?
It's hard to imagine that any team in the country has suffered more injuries and attrition than Clemson this season, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Listing all of the losses is mind-boggling, and has offensive coordinator Chad Morris shaking his head. Full Story » |

Yes, there have been many injuries. Injuries are common in college football. While this makes for a decent story, there is no cause for alarm. We will not lose any of the rest of our games based on injury (and I think we win them all) as we will be plenty healthy enough heading into the Georgia Tech and South Carolina games.
If we turn the ball over like we did last year, we will lose to S. Carolina again. Otherwise, our defense is strong enough that our offense just needs to play okay. We have been waiting for our defense to look this good for a long time. It does; now let's enjoy it!

I like the way you think. I have decided to join your train of thought. There is no future in doubting.

We don't have the younger OLs ready to play, even if it's only spot duty to give the starters a little break. We recruited Tyrone Crowder, Maverick Morris, and yes, even Spencer Region for a reason. It seems to me that they should be able to provide some relief for the five guys the coaches actually trust.

And, no matter what we think, there is a reason they don't trust them. Reigon has never lived up to his ranking out of HS. O-Line is toughest thing to predict. They might be the baddest guy on their HS team, but a lot of them can't make the transition to college when everyone is good. And there is a reason the other 2 QB's on the active roster were 3rd & 4th string

Hang in there my friend. Only a few are not taking these facts into mind. I have agreed with the legitimate criticism of the offense, as have had most people, but there are some who have been over the top. Unfortunately, it's those constant naggers who can make you think it's everybody.

what is up with Peake's injury?

Why can nobody talk about it? Is there a lawsuit involved? Are his legs top secret weapons with classified information? Can we not just know if he'll be back this year?

pretty gloomy slant I'd say...

I don't see a lot of it the same way. Yep, there's injuries and "adversity", but here's some counter points:
Roderick McD a big loss? Not really. He was and is replaceable with the backs we've had. Hated that Choice went down as he was coming on, but he was only a freshman who needed to learn to block better anyway, and it's not really a step down to go back to senior Howard and Davidson who broke a big run to win the game for us Sat night. Sammy was an obvious loss but that's just part of the cycle and we have plenty of talent coming in. Martavis Bryant was more than replaced by Williams, who is a better receiver, and look at the numbers on it if you wish.
Some of our injuries are short term and the players will make it back, including the quarterback. And on top of this, DeSean is a step UP from Tajh, if anything, if we can get him back healthy.
As for Leggett, he wasn't even a factor at all the first four games and was in the dog house for not being much of a blocker, and we have ample depth at this position.
I don't see all the half-empty stuff that's being put out. Let's move forward, win some easier games, get our guys back healthy that we have, and finish strong.

Biggest problem is Oline and we're still pretty thin there

otherwise Byers would be staying on the Dline. That's arguably one of the most important positions and we're one injury away from throwing another body out there...maybe even someone like Maverick.
I also think Hot Rod was a complete back who was great a blocking. I don't think we have a 100% total package RB right now.

Players from last year are long gone, don't dwell on it. Football is a rough violent sport and injuries will happen, some more and some less. It is what it is. This is the main reason you build depth. Your separation from starters and the 2nd team needs to be barely noticeable. Are the Tigers there? No, not yet but getting close as evidence of winning the last two games. Impressive but room to improve. You strengthen steel with fire and by the time the "chickens" come to town it will be time to show your metal.

I thought he had potential but obviously he has issues. Too bad, he was fun to watch, just needed to work on holding onto the ball.

All those longing for Fleming just got your reason he hasn't been a part of the offense.
