Venables told them the truth - "lost their edge!" Good for Coach V. and for the players to hear the truth!

Hope so. It can only improve. The last couple weeks (NCSt and SYR) they have not looked good and have given up some big plays.

Ahhhh, poor Demon Deacs! He should've waited until Saturday night to have this conversation. WF is going to get the brunt of this. I'd rather it be the chickens! Oh well, Go tigers!

Wake is not that bad - lost to Louisville by 1, FSU by 8. The 39 point spread seems way too high to me.

Frantic, desperate, terrified, and humble - NOW!

This bunch of Tiger defenders are great, but they can't wait and WISH they "would have" or "could have" - they have to do it today and everyday! At practice - in the film room - in pre-game - LIVE IT! Preach on, Coach V! Can somebody give him an Amen?

And a raise! Need to be sure he stays. While we're at it give Bill Snider at K State a raise and years of good health.

And I have seen that. The D See's the offense scoring on everyone and they relax. I've been there. I did it my self. He's right and I feel better about the D. GO TIGERS!!!

Not true. It's one thing for a coach whose job it is to prepare the players, and who sees them everyday say something, and a whining fan who keeps making posts bitching about stuff. I have a 91% pulse and don't think I've been called a coot, but I don't always say things are great all the time. But I also don't ##### about too much when we are undefeated and ranked #1 for the first time in nearly 4 decades.

And it's also very suspect when a poster signs up for the site in the middle of our best season in decades and the majority of the posts said poster makes are "concerns" that the team isn't playing well.

Yeah I get so sick at that concern garbage, or using "we" in the same sentence they criticize the team like they're a Tiger but being brutally honest, when they're just troll coots.
Anyway, glad to read this... hope we crush Wake Forest. Everybody should have already been fired up to play the lamecocks but I'm sure this will just help get and keep the D focused. Crush Wake, then destroy the coots... 49-0 is my prediction!

I think what happened at Syracuse could be one of the best things that has happened to us at this point in the season...we were, we are, on a roll, and needed a wake-up call before the final stretch. Hopefully BV's tutelage and arse-kicking lit the fire they needed to fire them up for the championship stretch.

Tomorrow is not a guarantee,Play with vengeance and an attitude today, Leave it all on the field, Have no regrets. How do you want to be remembered? Champion or almost Champion? It's a simple choice.

Exactly right. In games we've played to WIN we have been awesome. The ones we've played NOT TO LOSE we've been embarrassing. #1 is a challenge. We are everybody's game of the year. WF,SC, and NC would LOVE to ruin our chances. If you think for a minute the football gods would keep US in the final 4 with a loss you're crazy. Even though we beat them, if we lose a game Notre Dame will jump ahead of us and be in the playoffs without having to play a conference championship game. If we lose and ND loses another it will be someone from the Pac12. #1, maybe. Lose a game now and see how much respect we will get. They are dying for us to lose and if THAT doesn't put that chip back where it belongs nothing will. Play angry, play desperate, and play for each other.

You bet. Everyone out there wants to knock off #1. I love BV's approach. I think all successful coaches and managers need to know when to praise and when to be critical. BV has the timing down pat, IMO. The players need their emotional batteries and minds recharged. A kick up the butt just might get things started again. I fully expect a big performance against Wake on Saturday. The Demon Deacons will not enjoy this visit to Death Valley.

I can't help but think that this was well timed. The whole coaching staff is so intentional about everything it's hard to believe they haven't seen the defense coasting the last few weeks and hoped that the team leadership would get it fixed before the kick in the pants came from the coach.
Plus, building to a new level over three games seems about right. They are all trap games...only memorable in the long run if one of them is the one that ruins our run.

This is way more than football. That is advice for every stage of life- particularly the last part about staying hungry for success and keeping that edge that drives you. It's so good and you just respect him so much because he doesn't use coach speak, he's just incredibly real.
BV- life coach.

As the kids say. That's 100% the way I've seen it the last 2-1/4 weeks. The 1/4 against FSU. Coach V earned ever more respect from me! Thank God the offense didn't drink the "we're #1" kool aid! I have complete faith V will fix it!

Rowdy Rhonda Rousey couldn't be beat, either
Nov 18, 2015, 10:52 AM
|
|
She destroyed opponents. Her previous three fights lasted a total of 48 seconds or something insane like that. Until she was KO'd last week.
Mike Tyson destroyed opponents wining several fights in a row in 30 seconds or so. Then came Buster Douglas.
Don't let past performance make you think you can never lose or to overlook an opponent. Give 100% all the time and don't let up until the opponent is down for the count. Then start planning the destruction of the next opponent.
