NCAA Atheletes as Employees:

Dec 19, 2022, 1:08 PM

The NCAA is doing everything they can to try and avoid having the US court system from ruling that athletes are employees.

They have given them the "portal" to try and say "see we are not controlling their behavior".

It isn't working.

Having a bunch of independent agents chasing the biggest NIL is a far greater evil than just making them all employees and bringing some order back to the sport.

If parity gets noticeably worse than it is right now with the NIL "wild west", the sport will be unbearable to watch.

Interesting. If the students become unionized employees, college football becomes the NFL with lower salaries.

If they want to keep the transfer portal (Anytime, anywhere) then the schools should likewise be able to cut players, just like the NFL does.

Will that be better? I don't know. It won't be traditional CFB, which was far more entertaining than the NFL has ever been.

It ain't ever going back to the way it was, no matter what.

If an athlete earns NIL money they are employees of whomever pays them. Money equals employer which equals a W-2. Welcome to adulthood athletes.

So do you get the athletes to sign a non-compete contract?***

I think that goes without saying.***
