More smoke and mirrors from ACC commissioner

Just read the recap of Jim Phillips interview/ Q and A. Just more proof that the ACC as a whole is struggling for relevance. Comcast will not pick up the ACC Network because the ACC does not have a consistent and interesting product to sell. The only reason the other conference networks are successful is because of football. No one cares about ACC basketball, baseball, or badminton. Unfortunately the ACC will never learn that lesson and will quickly become the 6th most watched conference behind the AAC.

by the gentlemen's responses that the hot topic amongst the ACC members was the dissatisfaction with ACC headquarters being in North Carolina.

The ACCN will be added to Comcast Xfinity as soon as they renew their deal with Disney. Now, your points are probably valid in terms of why it was not a big enough selling point for Comcast to add the ACCN prior to the start of the season, independent of the overall contract negotiations with Disney. However, as soon Comcast and Disney worth through all of their issues regarding all of the networks that Disney owns, as well as how they are going to handle Disney+ and Hulu, it will be added. Neither side has started any public finger pointing at each other like what normally happens during these negotiations, and the original contract expiration of September was peacefully extended to October. So, I would expect to see the ACCN added soon. Hopefully, by the end of the month.
At this point, I'm pretty sure the ACC knows that football is what drives the bus. However, until conference teams start winning more out-of-conference games on a consistent basis, there isn't much the conference can do to make the product more appealing. Any time a team takes a step forward, they stumble and fall back. For example, Pitt gets a nice win over Tennessee in week 2, and then follows that up with a loss at home to Western Michigan the following week.

I think he needs to realign the football divisions along the lines of the old ACC and the old Big East. Give the inventory more old rivalry games that the fans care about. Don't need to see Clemson and Syracuse every year for example. Rather see the Tigers play UNC every season. Heck the old Big East and ACC were more interesting before they got mixed.

Hopefully, conferences agree to do away with the division requirement. That would allow the ACC to move to something like a 3-5-5 system where each school has three permanent conference rivals they play each year, and then play five other conference schools home and away for two years, and then the other five conference schools home and away the next two years. That lets us play schools like Virginia Tech, Miami, UNC, and Pitt much more often.

Yes the Big East had way more interesting rivalry games with Pitt, Syracuse, BC, Miami. VT. I would be Ok with bringing WVU to add to that. Think the ACC would be better off if people saw the old match ups they want to see every year. Anything to help make the ACC more attractive to these TV providers.

I am so tired of Notre Dame. They will never do anything to help the ACC, but don't mind taking from the league. At least WVU wants to be an equal member and would appreciate the opportunity. Yes, they need to work on academics--they can be buddies with Louisville until they can improve.

Isn't this on us and the other 14 schools (I mean 13 1/2)

The ACCN is going to be watched by fans of the ACC plus that part time school that participates in other sports.
A well organized effort by fans of all 14 (13 1/2) schools to have ACCN added to all cable systems, especially on the East Coast should easily get it done. Sadly, that hasn't happened. Likely cause is apathy, thus proving their point
C'mon, somebody with some time on their hands get it going with a huge, multi school, multi pronged social media effort
