I too have heard very good things about him and expect him to compete for a starting job from day one as long as he gets the defense down.

The funny thing is that that is also his biggest issue

He's such a great shut down corner that I heard his zone skills weren't as up to par, since most of his HS coaches didn't need to run it with him being so good one on one. Him learning his Venables' more zone oriented scheme will be the determining factor in how much he plays this year I believe

can throw half the zone away! the reason everyone doesn't run man coverage, is because there is not enough elite corners!

A very good point. And I'm sure coach V will do that

I'd challenge Alexander by giving him UGA's biggest WR threat and saying shut him down for me. You'd expect a few mistakes but if reports that he's handling Sammy well already are true then only good things can come of this.

i know he's a safety now, but if bv does indeed have 2 players that can cover an elite wr (such as sammy), like those two young men presumably can, i like our chances at having an incredible year!

Alexander at CB and Blanks at Safety. Goodbye passing game

One side of the field is definitely going to be cut off with those guys playing together. Add in Kearse who I'm hearing is going to play NB like Blanks did last year along with the return of a healthy stable of starters in Robinson, Breeland and Jenkins and our secondary will be solid if not a strength by mid season at the latest.

I like our stable of defensive backs. Blanks, Alexander, Jenkins, Breeland, Robinson, and Kearse. I just hope Coach Reed does not run a complicated scheme that will hurt their talents. I am very concerned about the strong safety position. Murphy or Murray, Georgia's quarterback, will probably run a lot of play action passes and I hope that our safeties are discipline enough to over the receivers, and not get taught looking into the backfield.

Coach Reed seemed to do pretty good with what he had at NCST

We've got better talent than they had. Our secondary should be beast mode by mid-season.

Butler on the outside and deandre and hamlin ball hawking deep. We had a secondary back then that should have produced a more dominant defense overall. What held us back was steele's bend but don't break approach.we were much too conservative and never brought heat.

Crezdon blew the coverage against BC on the play that would have sealed the ACC Championship for Clemson.

Pressure. That was one of the slowest developing routes you will see. No pressure at all. Matt Ryan could have made a sandwich and ate it. There will always be blown coverages but overall the secondary was pretty stout back then

My first observation

is that there are only a half handful of Sammy type talents out there and we dont face one this year. If you watch Alexanders hs film you see the type of agressive , head in the game player he is. His speed kills a lot of the smaller mistakes and bad moves he makes. Players with that kind of talent usually come into a place and take right over (ala Justin Miller) which is what im hoping for from this guy. Go Tigers !
