He never really did much at the NFL level.

Men at 25 play football. Men at 40 play tennis. Men at 60 play golf. Have you noticed as men get older their balls get smaller.

Yep, an overhyped #1 pick .. lauded as a future hall of famer in regards to his talent - turned out to be a classic Ford Pinto, that had troubles even starting …

with a .05 cent head. You just can't teach someone to have a good attitude and work ethic.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Exactly! No matter the physical talent, a player has to have the work ethic, intensity and motor to be successful in the NFL. Let's face it, Clowney became famous because of one lucky hit in one game, against a 5'7" 170lb. running back on a missed OL assignment. I blame Sport Center for his massive publicity. Don't misunderstand me, I know that he was a generational talent in high school and probably deservedly the number one recruit in the nation. But from what I saw, the only games in college that he demonstrated intensity were a few against UGA, UF and the Tigers.

That one hit was pretty legit, though

Wow. I get hating on Gamecocks, but this is the coldest of takes. He fizzled in his Jr year, but he was also the only legit DL we had by then. He was getting chipped while be doubled constantly. His Soph year he finished 5th in Heisman voting...come on man.
