Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:17 PM

as far as basketball support goes. They are doing general admission and a ton of the lower bowl is filled today EXCEPT the student section. #### thats disappointing.

We have had games during the Purnell era during christmas break where smthe students were in full force.

I know. I was there.

Idiot.

Another quality response from this guy.

Let me guess you are a member of this pathetic student body?

It is a shame you guys are an embarrassment to Clemson Alumni everywhere.

Yeah. And I'm at home for Christmas break. Like you, commenting on a message board instead of being at the game.

Keep making excuses sorry you dont like facts kid.

Fact is our students this year have been hot garbage.

This is just another example of it.

I never missed a game when I was in school from 85-89 but we didn't have all of the distractions students have today....Play stations,Internet,iPhones etc..all there was to do was go and watch BB.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:36 PM

I was there from 2002-2006 and we did have the distractions. We definitely werent top notch, but we were better than this garbage.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No we weren't. Particularly earlier in that range

Dec 14, 2014, 7:57 PM

Pre-purnell, the nobody went to men's games. Even Purnell's first season was really empty. It took a good two years to start seeing attendance get a little better, but it was never great unless a big name was in town.

Auburn is not a big name, and it's Christmas break.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why arent you at the game?***

Dirty,

Been to a ton of games this season. The odd thing is every time i go there is one consistent theme. The student section being non existent.

I hate to go all Scott Schafer, but you guys are soft nose.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:38 PM

Let me guess. "A ton of games this season" means you went to the Arkansas game, which was played on the Sunday before finals week? Or maybe the high profile Florida A&M or High Point games?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:40 PM

Your guess would be wrong, but i like the deflection of the real problem. A plus effort.

soft nose gonna soft nose. Maybe their is a sale on skinny jeans going on right now. Maybe that is the reason 3 students showed up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:42 PM

Why don't you personally go ask them why they didn't bring their friends? Greenville ain't too far away for an old school super fan like you to make this one, unless you are just sitting at home on a message board also. That would be disappointing, huh?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Oh I thought this had value

Dec 14, 2014, 4:50 PM

When I was a kid we had to watch all white players dribble a rock and throw it through a peach basket. These times are a changing.

Re: Oh I thought this had value

Dec 14, 2014, 4:50 PM [ in reply to Oh I thought this had value ]

Graduated in 2006. Not quite that old. Well I guess I am getting there.

Maybe it is just me. Maybe I am just an old dude going the "kids these days" route.

I just dont remember the level of suck from our students being this bad. Apparently I am not alone in this thought.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Oh I thought this had value

Dec 14, 2014, 4:57 PM

If every student that replied to this thread attended a basketball game we would double our student attendance.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Oh I thought this had value

Dec 14, 2014, 4:59 PM

You haven't answered the important question: Why aren't you there? You live in Greenville.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Oh I thought this had value

Dec 14, 2014, 5:07 PM

Ill answer your question. And then answer mine.

When you get older, you have kids, those kids require you to take care of them and participate in things they do. So while I would have definitely liked to attend it wasnt in the cards today.

With that being said I have been in attendance for rock the john, high point, winthrop, and Arkansas.

I would say that i saw you there but that would not be true because that would require at least one student to be in attendance.

Now answer this. Why do you always have an excuse for why you cant walk down the street to a game once in a while? Is it that tough? I know the struggle is real being a college kid and all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"Your guess would be wrong, but i like the deflection of the real problem. A plus effort. "

"With that being said I have been in attendance for rock the john, high point, winthrop, and Arkansas."

First off, I would like to prove that you are the one deflecting things. I have included evidence.

Secondly, I have been at every home game except for this one. You know why? Christmas break.

Third, why do I always have an excuse for students? Probably the same reason that you always have excuses for alumni. You blindly say every reason students have of not attending (specifically games the night before finals week starts and games during Christmas break) are excuses, but I suppose attendance "not being in the cards" for you today isn't an excuse either.

Dude your all over the place. The graduates 2006 and before were able to type on a phone 20 seconds at a time and also handle other business.

I guess it would be too tall of a task for you. Good luck in the work force. If someone says multi task to you run like hell.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Oh I thought this had value

Dec 14, 2014, 5:58 PM

You're*

And I'm all over the place? That would mean that I can, in fact, multitask. And since I'm already in the work force, I don't think I need much of your luck.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree though. My later years at Clemson

Dec 14, 2014, 5:10 PM [ in reply to Re: Oh I thought this had value ]

(2011-2013) the student attendance rate was really low.

It's a variety of factors. Better football team, worse basketball team. I don't attribute it too society though

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:49 PM [ in reply to Re: Man our students really blow chunks ]

One more thing: It's general admission. Nobody is going to willingly take the worst seats in the house just because. The students are gonna be spread around Littlejohn with the rest of the fans.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:28 PM [ in reply to Re: Man our students really blow chunks ]

No walking uphill
both ways in the snow, but we were able to actually walk 5-10 minutes down to LJ or make the 3 minute drive when we lived off campus.

I know thats asking a lot out of the new generation of suck that is our student section at basketball games

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:32 PM

Ok, but you can't do that when you're not in Clemson, i.e. when you are on Christmas break.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Then maybe the message wasn't directed at you...

Dec 14, 2014, 4:36 PM

In which case, why are you so upset? Is it because you're sitting in your apartment watching on TV.

Also, there's these things called cellphones, they can access TigerNet...even at basketball games. Given the reception SUCKS...but just throwing it out there.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Then maybe the message wasn't directed at you...

Re: Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:27 PM [ in reply to Re: Man our students really blow chunks ]

Its amazing what being competitive will do. Or even if you aren't competitive at least playing an exciting brand of basketball. Brownell's style of game is not going to attract people unless we're winning. Its just not exciting to watch unless you win.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Man our students really blow chunks

Dec 14, 2014, 4:28 PM

False we were terrible during Purnells first few years and our student section was never as bad as it has been this year.

Dec 14, 2014, 4:33 PM

Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit is it? Purnell pressed for 40 minutes. That made it exciting. Win or lose it was fast, up tempo, excitement. That draws a lot more people than a slow game like Brownell likes.
