MIP

Sep 11, 2014, 8:47 AM

Any of you guys(or someone you know) had experience with this in Clemson?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Spent the night in jail 3 weeks before I turned 21.

Sep 11, 2014, 8:49 AM

20 years later, and I still think the drinking age is a stupid, stupid law.

All of that is nothing but a total racket...

Sep 11, 2014, 9:52 AM

Just a revenue stream for the local PD. It'll be off of his record after he completes it, but it's going to cost you a pretty penny.

Only in jawga. I just paid the fine. Did get a free nights

Sep 11, 2014, 8:52 AM

lodging tho. I wasn't worried about permanent record kind of nonsense so I did not consider pti.

#ACCFTS

None in Clemson.

Sep 11, 2014, 8:57 AM

Drinking age was 18 and I was of age when I got to Clemson...but I have a TON of experience possessing alcohol as a minor in Rock Hill.

A TON.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it's so weird how the world can change in a couple decades

Sep 11, 2014, 9:02 AM

alcohol wasn't a big deal at all years ago; cops just made you pour it out if you got caught with it when you were 16 or 17. But if you got caught with pot you were in big trouble.

Now it's the opposite. Pot is looked at as no big deal but alcohol possession gets you a night in jail.

Weird.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Try getting caught with some pot in Pickens County...

Sep 11, 2014, 9:54 AM

They're still on a crusade against marijuana. Not only do you get a ticket, you get screamed at for hours, as the officers seem to take it personally.

They are just jealous.***

Men in Pink?

Sep 11, 2014, 9:14 AM

Not too many in Clemson, a lot in Chapel Hill.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Talk with Lakebum. I feel sure he got one of these.

Sep 11, 2014, 9:17 AM

Glad I never had to make that call home. I feel like my dad would have said, "Good luck, deal with it."

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's not a big deal and really a learning experience

Sep 11, 2014, 9:37 AM

He can sign up for a pre-trial program (PTI) where you have to take classes learning about drugs, alcohol, STD's and so forth. About 10 years ago, part of the program was attending AA meetings which gives a college student huge perspective.

As long as he goes through the steps, takes PTI seriously, he'll be better off in the long run.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

A friend of mine had to do something like that.

Sep 11, 2014, 9:41 AM

Had to hold a meeting to talk about underage drinking. Everybody in the room had been far, far, I mean worse than Vomitfest drunk together before. We probably did not take is seriously enough.

Fast forward, I keep in touch with a few of those people still. One does have a bit of an alcohol problem, but recently told me he's working on it.

Re: tmail me if you have any questions about it***

Sep 11, 2014, 10:32 AM

Thanks, might do that.....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Who didn't?

Sep 11, 2014, 10:03 AM

Pay a fine, lose license for a bit (6 mo?), can get a permit to drive to/fro work.

Or maybe PTI but that may cost more but will get it off record.

That's how it was in the early/mid 90s.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh no, they have a whole program dedicated to helping

Sep 11, 2014, 10:05 AM

you get that pesky MIP off of your record now. You can save PTI for any drug related offenses.
