Lotsa hate for Louisville

They are not a great program by any means, but I’ve seen them grouped as one of the worded teams in the ACC here, but I question why. 65,000 seat stadium with intentions to expand, recent headman winner, what am I missing that makes them less valued than other ACC teams?
Did Papa John #### it up for them?

Here's their attendance over the past decade...
Jul 27, 2021, 10:35 PM

Not including last year, obviously:
2019 - 49,913 2018 - 50,251 2017 - 46,160 2016 - 54,065 2015 - 49,069 2014 - 52,972 2013 - 52,914 2012 - 49,991 2011 - 48,538 2010 - 50,648
If the stadium seats 65,000, they average more than 10k below that every year. From 2015-2017 Lamar Jackson was their QB. Why are they expanding?

Maybe expecting Papa John $$$ and NIL might turn things around for them?

I have said for years we sell more season tickets each year than many ACC teams draw for games. Some dont have the seating and some dont have the fan interest

You could lie down in the lower deck 10 rows from field in Tommy West last season

Louisville spends more money on athletics than any other program in the ACC, bested FSU by 10 million, and Clemson by 20. They are also in the top 20 for total revenue generated, ahead of clemson. HTH.

Their facilities are beautiful and seem to all be new. I don’t know why people hate on them so much. I think it’s one of my favorite road trips of the past 10 years.
They are making investments so maybe it will pay off for them eventually.

they took on investors, namely Papa johns who they partially lease their stadium from if memory serves. There capital requirements are higher, but they get steady cash to keep attention on their program. That money is not coming from alumn, to put it more clearly. A few other schools do this, I believe Maryland, not sure. Anyway, they were a great add, regardless of what you think to about their fans.

Highest revenue in the ACC by quite a bit, as well as I remember.
I've been to football games there twice now, and I gotta say: it's one of my favorite Clemson trips. Louisville is awesome and has tons to do, like visit Louisville Slugger, the Mega Cavern, Churchill Downs, all the bourbon distilleries, and more. Their fans are alright too. The folks I used to sit with in DV had family in Louisville, and invited us to their UL tailgate. Wound up being a huge trailer with a DJ, tons of food, and their version of the Ralley Cats even stopped by. Louisville banners and swag everywhere. People couldn't have been nicer. Everyone was welcoming, offered us food and bevs, asked us about Clemson, talked about visiting, it was great.

If hate is involved then there's usually a good rivalry underneath it. NC State gets some extra hate - one of our older and frequent rivals. UGA gets plenty of hate - what a rivalry that is when it's played. Maryland used to fill that bill - heated games often and of course crappy fans.
