He won't have to change much of his wardrobe, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Did you see how many coaches turned them down. Pretty wild. This was like their 10th choice.
I know some of us have joked about Brad, but in all seriousness, what is your thoughts on why they wouldn't come after Brownell.

I think Coach Brownell had a better resume then Pope but that far down the list wanted to keep it in family, and the last thing they wanted was an "Indiana" guy.

I was on a flight with Kentucky track coach yesterday. I mentioned Brownell and he said “We do not want that man at Kentucky”. Sounded like Brad’s reputation is not good.

You could ask the same question with about 30 other very good coaches (like Brad) who had a better resume than Pope. Brad has no connection to the school and his resume reflects a coach who can do more with less. Ky is looking for a coach who can do more with more and failing that went with a favored son.

Brownell is not an elite coach

… we had a great run this year in the NCAA Tournament, but his overall history at Clemson is underwhelming and too erratic.
If he has 3 complete years like the tournament run, THEN perhaps he’ll be marketable to teams wanting to be in the top 10, but he’s got much work to do.
I hope he does, but I’m not holding my breath.

Is Calipari an elite coach? How about Jon Scheyer, is he an elite coach? He just signed one of the best recruiting classes in the history of college basketball but did they commit to Duke based on Jon's coaching skill or did they commit based on Duke's basketball reputation plus a ton of NIL money?
Its dishonest to judge all coaches as if the playing field is level. CBB is accomplished many things which no other coach at clemson has been able to accomplish so that makes him an elite coach.

… I’m not a bandwagon fan or an “orange colored glasses” fan.
You can disagree with me about my conclusions, but I most certainly am a Clemson Tigers fan.

Basically there is no way to know if he is a great hire or a horrible hire for about 3-5 years. As we saw with Dabo, pundits thought he was a terrible hire but worked out great for Clemson. On the flip side, there are a ton of hires with an "A" grade but flamed out in within 3-4 years.
