Looking at all the football staff and noticed we have 6

folks assigned to be "Offensive Player Development" and "Defensive Player Development". For Offensive Player Development we have Tajh Boyd, Tyrone Crowder, and Cole Stoudt; For Defensive Player Development we have Daniel Boyd, Kavell Conner, and Elijah Turner. Of these 6 dudes - 5 are former Clemson players but Daniel Boyd is a complete mystery to me. I can't find any info that says he ever played collegiate football and his Clemson bio is rather "thin":
"Daniel Boyd is in his second season assisting with defensive player development and in his seventh season with the program overall in 2022. Boyd transitioned into the role in 2021 after serving as a defensive student coach from 2016-18 and as a video graduate assistant from 2019-20.
From 2009-15, Boyd served as a sniper in the U.S. Army with two combat tours to Afghanistan. A native of Lamar, S.C., he is married to his wife, Heather, and the couple has two sons, Andrew and William."
These guys caught my eye because after checking out the Football Staff's of other top programs (Alabama, UGA, Ohio State) I didn't see anything like this in their staff's. There may be one or two guys listed as overall Player Development but nothing like six broken down by offense/defense.
So does anyone know what these guys really do on a day to day basis? Are they really developing player skills on the field or are their titles a fancy way of saying "tackling dummy holder"?

It does seem like Dabo is handing out salaries to people he likes. I hope that this is not the case, but he seems beyond reproach at this point. I once worked for a company where the owner suddenly died in the son took over, and the son started hiring his buddies. The place lost money for years until the owner panicked and hired a real CEO. When you hire your buddies, they have no fear of being fired

he just knows they wanted a job and so he gave one to them.
that's how the friends & family job/scholarship program works.

Actually Tajh wasn’t looking for a job and took some time to decide if it was the right thing for him to do. He had a good job but Dabo kept coming after him because he knows this is exactly what Tajh was built for. Don’t know about the others but it definitely wasn’t a charity hire in Tajh’s case.

All those coaches and that's the offense they come up with? Hopefully Dabo is fixing to fix it.

Daniel Boyd is SC HS football royalty. His father has run one of the most successful programs in the last 30 years, he’s developed future hall of famers and won countless championships. He was a baseball first kid but was one of the best all around athlete I’ve ever known, became a marine then got on with Clemson. Whether you know who Daniel Boyd is or not, he is someone we want on our staff because HS football coaches around the state have tremendous respect for what his family represents in terms of SC HS football.

They also don’t know what these coaches actually do or how much they’re actually paid, but they are certain that it should be a deep, deep concern. These analyst / development coaching positions didn’t exist little more than a decade ago. They are a way for for folks to gain the very experience so many are screaming and yelling our coaches need. Also, people who want to throw the word nepotism at Dabo need to look up the word because hiring people with pre-existing affiliation with Clemson is not it.

My take is that Daniel Boyd is an excellent leader and mentor for young people.

I have seen him coach youth sports in Clemson and have some knowledge of his background. Thanks for sharing additional information on his Father.
I support him being associated with Clemson athletics.

A sniper is good to have on the staff in case you need to shoot yourself in the foot...
