Wearing my Tiger sweatshirt & was just stopped and man said, " you won't be wearing that shirt after Thursday!" I thought for sure it was a coot fan from cooterville... To my shock & disbelief he said " nope, I'm a Duck," my reply well, I'm not a fan of any "fowl" teams! Chickens, Hokies, or Ducks!! Go Tigers!!!! Lets dominate those BEES!!

In all honesty we may be able to beat them but I think it takes a certain team like a Stanford and Bama to beat Oregon. You have to run the ball and be able to pound out first downs and keep the clock moving.
If we played Oregon Saturday on a neutral field I think it will be hard for us to hold them under 45.

Auburn held them to 19 points a few years ago I believe. That was a terrible Auburn defense who only had a dominant DT. I would say Grady Jarrett is not to terribly far from Fairley but the rest of our defense is much better than theirs was. Auburn also played very poorly on offense that game, so it's not like they never let Oregon have the ball.

Take off the orange colord glasses for a second.
Look at match ups. We do not match up well with Oregon. They have lost 2 games the past 2 years to the same team with the same style offense.
Teams that can run the ball and control the clock can beat oregon.

Can we win? Sure. Are we going to be favored to win? No way. It is not a good match up.

I didn't say much better but better

While Oregon has faster running backs, I would bet that is the only advantage they have over FSU on offense. FSU has better WR and O line. I will say the QBs are a push even though I think Winston is a little better (Mariota was passing at right around 50% completions after 2 or 3 games). I will also say (and most will disagree) that the RB position is pretty even and probably goes to FSU as well. They aren't as fast but are better overall players. So where is my observation so far off?
And by the way we all know FSU has a better defense.

I don't see all the mismatches. They do not have the tall WR that hurt us against FSU. Their QB is less accurate on underneath balls. Their O line will not stop our penetration like FSU's did at times.
You forget that we handed FSU 21 of those 51 points with our offense.

FSU also took out their starters up 51-7
Nov 12, 2013, 11:31 AM

and had over 550 yards. 450 of which came thorugh the air.
One huge mis match would be our DBs VS Josh Hugg and Bralon Addison. The thought of darius robinson guarding either of those guys makes me cringe.
Another big mismatch for us would be having to defend the first running QB we have seen of the year outside of GT and USC. Mariota averages 9 yards a carry.
It is not a big surprise, we are weak at DB and teams with good WR's will take advantage.

How does when FSU took their starters out matter?
Nov 12, 2013, 11:39 AM
[ in reply to FSU also took out their starters up 51-7 ] |

My point is we gave them almost half of their points. Take away the points our offense gave them and they are sitting in that 30-35 range that UGA got. FSU was a pass first team against us. They are against many people. They use the run to finish games. Oregon is the opposite. They want to run the ball first to set up the pass. This sets up better for us. UVA QB was a runner also. So that would be 3 of our last 4 QBs faced being runners leading up to the bowl game. That's hardly unprepared. We are strong in the front 7 and they are a run first team. It's hardly one of our worst match-ups this season.

Don't be shocked when the point spread comes out and the ducks are a 10-17 point favorite and the over/under is above 72.

Strong enough O line? Their D line averages about 250 pounds. Not exactly bruisers. And I am not saying we will hold them to 13 points on offense like Stanford did but our defense isn't exactly terrible like Auburn was a couple years ago when they shut them down in the NC game.

but seriously? Oregon is not a world beater. Yes thy are quick, but our DLine is very good. I think it would be a high scoring game, but we could hang. Standford's Dline is probably better than ours but otherwise I think we are a pretty even team.

Only bad game i've seen was vs. FSU and they're stout OLine. Georgia had a pretty veteran Oline and we handled it. That's 1-1 vs. elite offensive lines.
