How many coaches at major college football programs in the last 20 years went from winning 10+ games for 10+years then had, let's say they had three, 4 to 6 win seasons then all of sudden went back to winning in double digits? I know it was done 30 years ago and before that. But college football has changed so much.

I say No. You won't get Saban, Smart or even Spycam Harbaugh. Do you see an unknown like Dabo was finding success or should we see if he can make some right hires again?

Off the top of my head Brain Kelly at Notre Dame (4-8 and then two years later was in the playoff) and Bob Stoops at Oklahoma (8-5 and then went 11-2 the next two seasons before retiring) would qualify. Likely more if you look into it.

Read the original post closer and saw you mentioned 3 years of 4-6 wins. All of the examples I said above was only 1 down year. 3 years of losing football is a likely a death sentence for any coach for a program that expects to compete. If Dabo only takes us to 1 bowl game in the next 3 years he is likely done.

Yes I know coaches have done it at the beginning of their career, but if it's done in the middle of their career ( which I think Dabo is in) wouldn't that be something unprecedented? It's been so long that I've been afraid to watch a game and the game this weekend really has me that way. But the team did show up for FSU so 🤞

Stoops only had 4 of 18 seasons where he didn’t win double digits and the 4 he didn’t were pretty spread out over his 18 years so not what the OP stated.
Kelly had single digit wins in 4 of his first 5 seasons but double digit wins in 6 of his last 7.

If the only reason why the team went from 10+ wins to garbage seasons is the coach refusing to do basic things like use the portal and hire top tier coordinators, then it's totally fixable. But the coach has to actually admit he was wrong explicitly or implicitly, and Dabo will *never* do that.
