Just went over to the OU boards.

They are wanting BV gone yesterday. Said he was a bad hire, not having the team game ready, the player talent in this team should be performing better. Also, Lebby is trash and so is Roof. “Mr. Aggressive Defense comes to Norman and becomes a coward.” “Venables does not have the fire in his belly that he had at Clemson. If this was happening at Clemson, he’d be coming unglued on the sideline.”
Can’t stand OU but want BV to succeed and he’s got to fix this fast. Those fans won’t tolerate embarrassing losses like this.

It’s hilarious preseason all the OU fans claimed that were going to run the league and Clemson was going to fall off because BV was everything at Clemson. Now we are sitting 5-0 and they are getting the worst beating in the rivalry’s history. I’ll always like Coach V but I HATE OU and always will even though I’ll hate it for him but love seeing arrogant OU fans live through it. Also loving how Miguel gets roasted on social media every week for his arrogant tweets when he left Clemson.

So the truth of the BV thing at Clemson, and the BV thing at OU must have been that Dabo got it right in believing that BV was a good fit at Clemson, and it was the reason that Dabo did everything possible to keep BV happy at Clemson, but it wasn't enough to keep BV from running out of his luxurious home in SC, straight to the OU plane, and never looking back at all he was giving up on for a risk at making more money than 99% of the people actually couldn't make in an entire life time. IMO, if BV fails miserably at OU, HE got what he wanted, more of the same misery at OU, where he was miserable when Dabo brought him to Clemson where his life as he had said himself, was happy, and great right where he was, at Clemson!!! He was so happy at Clemson that, he forgot about how miserable he was at OU!!!! Memory is a H&11 of a thing to lose, when you lose sight of when and where your life was at it's best!!!

does he love being a HC right now? probably not, I don't take any pleasure in his failure.

I don't blame him for leaving for OK because I truly think it was one of the only jobs he would actually leave Clemson for. I think if Alabama offered Dabo the job, it would be the only one he would have to seriously consider.
I never saw BV as the CEO type. I always looked at him as a good "second banana" and more like a COO. I recall him even making comments that he wasn't really sure if HC was the best fit for him and his personality.
I think he was right to question it...

And if he gets fired after one year I’m sure he will say that he does not regret taking the chance. And he will mean it. He did everything one could do as a coordinator. He waited for what appeared to be the right opportunity and he took it.

Dabo also let Brent be Brent. Didn’t put no restrictions or limitations on him. I almost guarantee the AD hand the powers to be (boosters) didn’t want a crazy coach that needed be restrained from being on the field too much.

Next year starts like this, he won't be there mid season. He should have some easy opponents coming up but they may be looking at missing a bowl.

That is the same exact way they treated him his last couple seasons as the Sooner Defensive Coordinator prior to coming to Clemson and it won't be any different now that he is the head coach...he's got a long long road ahead of himself building that program back up to where Bob Stoops had it and even Lincoln Riley

Well said, and everybody must remember, all Coordinators just don't make good head coaches, and they should have kept their job where they were one of the highest paid DC's in the country, where the school, and the fan base absolutely loved him, and that school has a 5-0 start without him. Sometimes people just don't understand that the grass on the other side just isn't greener, and that is most of the time!!!

This is a lame comment.
This is year 1 for BV in Norman. As another poster pointed out, they had a bunch of folks leave via the transfer.
BV had an opportunity to take over a historically good program that gave him a shot at the big time with the resources to compete nationally. Until this year is finished I think it is unfair to assume he's failed at OU and shouldn't have left Clemson for the opportunity.
Give him another year or two to right the ship before calling it a failed venture. Personally, the dude helped us win 2 championships so I hope he does well unless he goes up against Clemson.

I'm not paying him, so he owes me nothing, and I owe him nothing, but it has been a fact that more coordinators that take HC-ing jobs on their 1st try at a big school like OU usually fail. More has failed, than the ones that has succeeded!!!! BV was an excellent DC, but there is nothing that says being a successful coordinator, equals to a successful HC!!! You ride with your opinion, I'll ride with mine, and lets see how it ends up for BV. Personally, I think he jumped to far out in the water on his 1st dive as a HC!!!

Too far out in the water? What are you suggesting....a guy as sought after as BV should have turned down the 7mil a year OU was willing to pay to take a fraction of that to hone his skills at a place like James Madison?

Much of the talent left, Oklahoma knew it would take some time to get them back where they were. Brent even said when he arrived it would take time to improve the talent.
They will be patient with him, they have a lot of money on the line.

whatever reason, has made a conscious effort to appear more stoic on the sidelines. This belies his nature, and from that point of view, I can't blame the Schooner fans for being a little upset that the Venables they are seeing on their sideline is NOT the same one we saw in Clemson all those years.

I think they would be having it right now regardless of who their coach is.
There was too much player turnover for a new coach to absorb this year to maintain their recent level of success. That, plus new coaches installing new systems is a perfect recipe for a down year.
BV will get a few years to show what he can do. I think he will recruit well there. They will turn it around.
