but the guys coming up w/ the lines must've seen our game, and while the Noles haven't really played anyone of note (Maryland is 1/2 note, at best) they've looked nothing BUT awesome
I think it'll be an awesome game. The noise will put that Miami game to shame...I think DV will be the difference maker...the 81,512th man

HEII I like not coming into the game as the favorite. If anything, it adds fuel to the fire for Dabo to coach up all week.

It's a role that we as a program seem to relish.

Spread is guesstimate for what it takes to equalize betting on both teams. Betting public has more money on FSU right now. It could change, depending on betting pattern.

One Word: Bandwagon!

Betting odds are to even out bets not predictions. Win or lose the house still gets 10% "juice". So they want the betting pretty even. FSU is a National jump on the bandwagon fairweather fanbase. The TV fans are coming out of the woodwork and are convinced it is 1993 again. I wouldn't be surprised to see the line go up when betting starts. The true diehard FSU fans are concerned, respect our team, and Death Valley. They just happen to have a ton of here today gone tomorrow TV fans that only bother with them when they win big. Yeah, the line will go up. Go Tigers! Let's derail the fair weather bandwagon!

The purpose of the line is to get an equal amount of money bet on both teams. Clemson has fewer alumni and an overall smaller fan base than FSU. FSU has been getting he headlines so it doesn't matter whom they have beaten. Based on experience they think more people will bet on FSU than Clemson, so they give points to Clemson to try and get more people to bet on Clemson. They don't care about the quality of the teams, only trying to get equal money bet on both teams.

True. Some of the calculation is based on early activity too

so it's safe to assume there has been more betting on FSU to win. It opened at a FG and it will be interesting to see where it settles. Probably less than that, but still in FSU favor.
But it's also a numbers game and FSU and Winston have made some good numbers. Our wins buy small margins (not beating the spread) and some quirky offensive stats takes a little away. But that's fine. Being a FG underdog is not a problem. I'm anxious to see the over/under when it gets settled.

Ever been to Vegas? Every idiot that gets on the plane for the ride home is still half drunk and boasting about how much they've won...yet, when plane circles back over the city, most hotels have cranes building a new tower or addition with all of that money they've "lost!" Vegas is wrong sometimes. But, it's amazing how many times they are spot on.
