Just a thought about Dabo and Streeter.

I could make all sorts of applications here. But, I won't. Just asking a question or two.
If Clemson had beaten SC, would Brad have been replaced as OC? Is it possible that losing the SC is an example of "Short term pain for long term gain"? Could Shane Beamer be a contributing factor to Clemson's future success on the field?

I think so. If Streeter would of had success in the Orange bowl he might still be the OC. The Carolina loss and the Tenn loss is going to work out. If Streeter would of stayed the 2023 offense would not be much better.

not having a backup prepped, ready and used more often during the year. It was said to be Streeter's call on which qb played, so that should have been enough for removal. 2021 we had no real backup option. 2022 you had a highly talented qb in Cade.

have almost 500 yards against Tennessee. If you go back and look at the red zone possessions, you can't pin the lack of success on Streeter.
Streeter did a great job improving the offense and maximizing a handcuffed situation. He was let go due to a lack of Cade Klubnik development and a desire to bring in to utilize what we have and create an explosive offense.
Streeter will be fine. He'll eventually end up a head coach, just like the 3 OCs before him did.

Brad is the basketball coach and Dabo's primary advisor.

Although our offense was very predictable, 4 turnovers are a glaring factor against coots. And again, our offense was so predictable the past two seasons, and opponents defenses were prepared, we just had better talent to beat most of them. I believe the team couldn’t take another season of a weak, predictable offense. The change had to take place.

Every team we played loved to see DJ run, he can't go very far very fast...let him throw the short passes, leading to him missing the longer stuff which he was prone to do anyway! Everyone thought they had a chance unless we ran hard and their offense could score! We could control almost anyone that way...Streeter had no chance without a real top 30 QB...we got one now! Riley has been blessed with good QB`s...run and shoot!

The offense wasn't explosive enough.

While the offense was improved by leaps and bounds in 2022, it was due to dinking and dunking for passing yardage. The offense was handcuffed and couldn't open up due to a lack of execution capability. Once a more capable QB entered the picture, viola, much more open passing game and chunk plays.
Streeter didn't do a good job developing Cade. No reason for the fundamental errors we saw in the orange bowl. That, and a desire to be more open and explosive is why Dabo made a change.
By the way, the common denominator the last two seasons was the QB, not the OC. Streeter had the elephant in the room lesd us to an 8-0 record before his mental game took a fall (again).
Regardless, the offense was much improved under the new OC, even with the governing factor at QB.

Yes, I watched.
But in all fairness to Streeter, he was dealing with DJ.
That would be like trying to run a 100-yard dash carying a small anvil.

Steve Spurrier was the best teacher coach Dabo had. Coaching is what made USuCk’s 5-year anomaly. I like the rivalry better when the dirt pekkers don’t act as simple sammich fetchers.

Well that and the immediate hit to recruiting from the Bowden firing.
Once Dabo overcame that, it was back to normal.

my assumptions:
1. Hard to say. I don't recall a game in the season when our O was doing as it should. NCSt. became a clinic on D which we seemed never able to replicate (maybe UNC?). ND was an embarrassment, FSU was almost embarrassing, Syracuse was almost a loss and was an embarrassment... the last two seasons were really pretty poor for us and moat if it was mainly because of the O.
2. The USC loss was bad, really stung, seemed needless... but our pain has been experienced for at least two years so I don't know if the pain qualifies as short term.
3. Difficult to be certain but as little as I know about up and coming coaches, Beamer was the guy I least wanted USC to hire. He seems to be making some good moves for them and competition among relatively equal parties is a great way for both to learn. So, I think greater USC success will make us better as well.

In hindsight I believe this was in the works. We are talking a season as a body of his work. Losing the TO battle cost us against SC. Scoring 30 should win you the game even though 6 came off a pick.

I think losing to SC forced Dabo to do what he didn't want to do. I agree. Short term pain will cause the greater good.

We will not know about the good or bad till Riley has been here for a while...how he adjusts the offse during a game...what he changes in the red zone success...how he utilizes talent...that was a big TE issue, he had no idea how to use a TE, no pun intended... Streeter did a much better job with Davis Allen...we need to give Riley a chance!

Dabo isn't one who lacks patience. He knew Jeff was leaving long before he left but couldn't find a suitable replacement. Dabo isn't one to 'do something even if it's wrong,' in dealing with a problem.
