How good do you have to be?

Do you have to be a great team to win a Championship? At this point, our offense is 6th in the ACC in yards gained and our defense is tied for 4th in yards given up. I have never seen a rule that says a Championship team has to have the best offense or the best defense in the country. What we are is 8-0 and despite what issues we may have, we can't have a better record. On October 26 we are a long way from a National Championship but we sure as heck are closer than we were on September 1. I see Dabo being like Tates Locke when he said something to the effect of get me even with Lefty's team with 4 minutes to go and I will out coach the S#B. Get us to the Championship game and we have a chance.

From listening to TNet talk about the talking heads it seems that is pretty well understood that we are currently not as highly thought of because of our QB play. I believe with this same team and if our QB was named DW or TL we may be favored to win it all at this point.
Just don’t believe many think we beat anyone in the top 5 with what’s been consistently shown so far.
On another note as of right now DJ does seem to be light years ahead of last year, and this team has yet to put 4 quarters together. Maybe that changes at ND.
Side note: This maybe so far Dabo’s best coaching year with the loss of his top 2 assistants.
Going to be a lot of chatter going forward on who and who does not belong in the playoffs. Prepare to take the good with the bad.

It’s because we’ve yet to put together a complete game, haven’t been dominant, and have struggled with a few less talented teams on our schedule.

I’m just mentioning what keeps getting said. We may think and it’s definitely part of it, that we have not had beat down wins, but at the end of the day it seems they do not have confidence in our QB.
Again it’s just their opinion and we will find out a lot more in the next month.

Don’t post anymore, but had to respond to this one.
The 1977 ND team won the National Championship with an 11-1 squad that defeated one team by 10, two by 7 (one a come from behind) and came from behind to beat Clemson by 4 points.
I witnessed Clemson play their best game I’d ever seen to that point, but Norte Dame was fantastic by the last 4 games of that year. They beat Texas by 4 TD’s to take the title.
It ain’t over ‘til the fat lady sings.
