10 commandments were written on a rock. From Job 31:

"If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour's door;

10 Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.

11 For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges.

12 For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase."

That suggest that not only was adultery out of bounds but that the term 'grinding,' wasn't first used to denote sex during the last couple decades. Sodom and Gomorrah might have had a night club named 'Grinder.'

Job seems to be making the point that The 10, which came later, addresses truth already known by observation.

He certainly was and dallied in our comprehension of Christ in Job 31. It's a shocking read and convicted my soul of behavior which is unbecoming of one who is born again.

I'm convinced from chapter 31 that Job knew Christ. He spoke of spiritual matters rather than just behavior of the flesh only but also behavior of the mind.

Been thinking about that - Job knowing a Redeemer - for a couple of days. Hadn't thought about it that way, but seems to be the case. It does seem that "Job" is not merely an old book of wisdom. Humans, being apart from God, believe we create truth with philosophy, while Job came at it the other way. "It's right there in front of me, and if God doesn't save me I can't live up to it." Maybe Job and his friends show the two views of truth.

I still think it's funny at the end. God: "Ahem. Yeah yeah yeah ... blah blah blah. You don't even know how you got here, but you're telling Job how it works."

It's hillarious.

42: "8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job."

Imagine being on the blunt end of that after criticizing/condemning a man who lived righteously then having God Himself make you go ask that man to pray for you as the condition of your forgiveness. I've spent so many years empathizing and trying to identify with Job I never considered I have more in common with his friends.
