Is Riley Really the Offensive Coordinator?

This list is straight off the Clemson football org chart and are folks who have "offense" as part of their title. There are more but not 100% offense. Do these folks report to Riley? In the chart, it shows them all reporting to Dabo.
And how can you have an assistant coach for wide receivers, an assistant coach for tight ends who is the passing game coordinator and an assistant coach for quarterbacks who is the offensive coordinator and all 3 be different people? Are they really coordinated? I never see Riley talking to anyone but Cade on the sidelines.
How do they develop strategies? How do they evaluate performance? How do they do anything effectively with these silos built around functions?

No. Dabo is an incompetent playcaller but thinks he's an offensive guru. He's making most of the decisions. We could literally see him overruling Riley last night. Riley is the QB coach, and not much else from what I'm seeing. Dabo lied to him and is instead using him as a scapegoat so he can keep doing things his way and not get questions by Board of Trustees members who could fire him (like Nikki Haley who was calling for Streeter's head).

College and pro football have become bloated like government when so much money flows in you just create pointless jobs. all teams could easily and should easily have 2 offensive coaches 2 defensive coaches and 1 head coach and thats its. no special teams coach no coach for every little position.........too many cooks in the kitchen comes to mind, for 11 million dollars i expect some direct results.

Why do people keep asking this when it’s clear as day?
Dabo is calling the plays not Riley.
Riley has input but Dabo is making the final call of the plays.
Riley coaches the QBs and that’s it. Nothing about this offense from the coaches to the players to the scheme is actually Riley’s.
This is the same Clemson offense we’ve been running since Morris. Dabo even said after the Duke game that Riley was brought here to learn the Clemson offense.
This is not Riley’s actual Air Raid offense. This offense is nothing like what he ran at SMU/TCU.
He didn’t get to bring any of “his guys” with him as assistants. He wasn’t allowed to instal his actual offense. He’s not being allowed to call his actual plays.
Everything you see is the same exact thing we’ve been seeing since Morris.
Riley will be on the first train smoking out of Clemson as soon as he gets the chance bc this isn’t what was sold to him when he took the job.

I have never seen Clemson run. Double back shotgun set before. So that’s definitely something that proves Riley is calling the plays. He did that same set at TCU

I said he has input but the final call rests with Dabo. Input could be something like a new formation but for the record we have absolutely ran out of a 2 back set in the shotgun.
If you haven’t seen that over the last 7/8 years then you’re not watching closely enough.

there is zero need to have that many coaches for one side of the ball. And they all get decent salaries to I would bet, while there are others in the athletic department who get a very basic salary.

10 of 11 are loyal to Dabo not Garrett Riley. And Dabo has been explicit with reporters that Garrett Riley is running the Clemson Offense -- not the successful Offense employed by Riley at SMU and TCU. Even with Riley calling plays, the deck is stacked.

To me, when a role is defined as "offensive coordinator" that means all things offense fall under it. So when people say the OL sucks, that would be a part of what the coordinator is responsible for (even though there is another layer under him). As is, the coordinator has no responsibility for the function that his title says it does.
If I were Riley I would at least ask for a new job title because this is a set up to fail no matter what happens. He got sold a bill of goods.

Interesting poast, California. The bloating of athletic departments has become rampant and it is not just Clemson. All major schools are doing it now. Just like governments at all levels, they just grow and grow and grow. We were watching a Bama football game a couple weeks ago and they had 22 Staffers on the sideline in Crimson Pullovers. No telling how many were in the booth or in luxury suites. To say they are wasting money is probably being too kind.

I honestly don't know how they can play a game on Saturday, give it some fair level of evaluation on Sunday, and have a strategy/plan to start practicing for on Monday when there are this many people involved. And there are more than the ones I showed, these are the ones that have "offense" as part of their official title. I suppose Riley knew this when he came on board but I'm surprised he hasn't tried to get the organization right. And remember, it's the same story on the defense side though at least the defensive side can show some success.
