I'm trying to decide if there'd have been a bigger uproar

May 16, 2012, 7:29 AM

had the AARC simply denied Bellamy entrance into Clemson............

Or if they'd have given him the benefit of the doubt and allowed him to matriculate only to flunk out....which is, apparently, what happened.

Looks like the AARC just whiffed on this one. There's no question this young man was given every opportunity to succeed both academically and athletically. Every realistic Clemson fan knows this. The onus falls on Bellamy at some point.

When looking back on recruiting classes in a couple of years, the "experts" will need to deduct Bellamy from Clemson's overall numbers. But right now, with Sammy's arrest and Bellamy's academic issues, the players and coaching staff will have to prove to the fans and the rest of the college football world it can rise above this surface turmoil and become a unit of discipline and determination.

with academics you hear stuff but who knows since privacy laws dont permit it to be openly discussed. was he bordeline when admitted? or did he just not work at that aspect of college? maybe he tried and there was some other learning related issue.

Used to be as freshman we were told about 1/3 of us wouldn't make graduation. with Vickery that is much lower on staying eligible and in most cases graduating.

It is unlikely anyone of us will ever know what the real story was here.

When I went to Clemson

the president stood up at orientation and told us that the old adage about 1/3 not graduating was not true of us. He said, "you would not have been admitted if you were not expected to graduate." Maybe that is not true for athletes.

No contest really. The board would have melted down had the AARC denied him. Calls for firing the entire adminsitration, just like last time.

AARC can't predict that a guy wont go to class ....***

would have been worse than when we denied Dwight Jones

it won't be funny at all if Bellamy ends up at UNC
