Wes Goodwin…

I’m not completely sold that he can’t be a great DC, he’s shown he can make good adjustments! If we had to keep either streeter or Goodwin, I’d keep Goodwin.

Where is Streeter? Has he been seen since Saturday night?

He made no adjustments the entire game, clearly overmatched.

I don't like that the intensity from that side of the ball was lost. Goodwin doesn't seem to even be enthusiastic at times. Brent V was intense the whole game. I miss that.

It does seem that way. I was hoping Eason would bring that kind of fire.

Brent Venables had his ### handed to him several times.

Well its more of just an outside observation. The important thing is what Coach Swinney said earlier, they are changing lives, so no matter the outcome of the season, Dabo and his crew are showing these young men how to be good men who work hard and love Jesus and that's worth more than all of Saban's titles combined.

to be playing this way. These guys should be playing at an elite level and bringing intensity each and every game.

There's talent for sure

but our LB's and DB's are not 5th-6th year seniors like last year. Good eyes and knowing where to be come with experience.

I’m sure Goodwin can be a very good DC.

The problem is that he isn’t a very good one now, and it was poor judgment for Dabo to expect him to be now.
So now we get to let Weslichick learn on the job with our talented players on defense. Awesome.

Can't coach physicality. You can recruit it though, but you may have to break the "High Character" mold.

This was one of the most physical defenses we have seen at Clemson last year, it was squandered due to inept offense and qb play last year. 2 years of getting screwed by the QB results in injuries and a worn out defense.

Can probly get Kevin steele at end of season. He seems to check all tigernet requirements: Highly experienced DC at the some of the most prestigious schools in college football Previously at auburn now at Miami.
Or how about Al golden (see above) Current DC at Notre dame His defense looked very impressive Saturday.

My concerns are just as much or more so as a position coach than as coordinator.

I know this, I am tired of Dabo scapegoating him.

No, WG is not Venables, at least not yet, but I think the D is ahead of the O, despite the front 7 not being as dominant as expected.

I'm the opposite. Wish Goodwin was put in charge of LBs and hired an outside DC. Goodwin can become a good coordinator but he skipped the foundation of being position coach first. He was not ready. He may develop through pain but he was not ready this year for that jump. Dabo thought he could let him grow this year bc the talent would shine through regardless, then injuries piled up and the intensity left the defense.
