I don't think it has to do with being attention hungry. The whole thing was originated by an OSU fan who tweeted a screenshot of a private DM. Sure, Jackson RT'd, but probably more out of amusement and curiosity than anything. He knew 100k was (likely) and unattainable number; I doubt he was serious. Im not saying there aren't plenty of attention hungry recruits out there, I just disagree in this case.

It's not a " kids these days " behaviour , really . What it is I believe is the great pedestals they are afforded on the internet with social media .
You think people like Joe Namath , Brian Bosworth or Deion Sanders would not have rode that wave had it been available to them ? Prime Time would've broken the webnets .
No , this is a time we are living in , and the kids are no different than the adults , mostly .

He's number one on the wish list, but right now. If today was NSD...
I think he would be a Buckeye.
Maybe we do, but I just can't see it right now.

The Buckeyes have a lot of momentum right now. They've landed several more commitments to a really really good class. I think once we get to the cookout and official visits, and our Tigers start doing their thing on the field again this year, we will get a lot of traction back with guys like Carman.

So.. my Moms side all from Taylors and all went to Clemson. Her played football in the 80s and dad basebal a long time back. I went to Tampa without a ticket, walked 6 hrs to find one 2 series into the game and must say watching the Tigers beat Bama was a top 3 life experience.
On the flip side, and unpopular with the board, Dad's side all went to OSU and promise know more about them than anyone on this board. Know a GA in the program and go to a game a year. May as well be bi-polar when it comes to loving both teams, but it is my reality. Head to heads are awkward (and only one team seems to win, ha).
All Of that aside, When it comes to Carman, I'll call a spade a spade. All OSU. While his 1a 1b thing makes headlines, there is no reason for Clemson fans to get their hopes up. Pin the thread, Pm me as id be willing to take bets, it's just not gonna happem for Carman to Clemson. In the end, he may be a Raekwon and wish he started for a NC team (Raekwon has a ring as a reserve at OSU), but he's not coming to Clemson, right or wrong. Just trying to bring truth to the board. Will eat crow if I'm proven wrong. But I won't be.

I tend to agree with you. I think OSU is trucking right now. With Mitchell joining, Parsons on deck, Zamir a real possibilty, and Salyer still a wild card, their class is looking really sick. Just don't see Carman leaving Ohio the way things are shaping up.

Buckeyes have momentum right now on the recruiting trail. It wouldn't take much to swing a lot of that momentum back towards Clemson. There's still a few big name guys that will be Tiger Town Bound before long. Things will heat up again soon

if we do get Jackson Carman, that's great for Clemson. If we miss out on him, then so be it, onto the other 2018 OTs like Gouraige, Petit-Frere. 2019 also appears to be setting up well with guys like Warren McClendon, Michael Tarquin, and Wanya Morris. Not to mention that OT really isn't a huge position of need. We seem to have hit home runs on both Pollard and Anchrum. Chandler Reeves will be able to take his time healing from injury, as will Blake Vinson. Add in a big body like Noah DeHond and it doesn't seem to be a huge need.
Looking on the flip side at Ohio State, and Jackson Carman is an absolute MUST GET. Winning a shootout in the Orange Bowl? Ohio State didn't mind. Shutout in the playoff? In their eyes it was a down year. But, if we steal a top recruit right out of Urban's backyard... prepare for a meltdown.
It's nice to be in Clemson's position here. A whole lot less to lose.

Totally agree JfMahon. Clemson playing with house money here with other options at OT in the event it doesn't work out with Carman.
Other thing I'll say is OT is a huge position of need for OSU (anyone else notice in the playoff game?) and he's a 1-2 hour drive from campus. Would be a huge upset for Clemson to pull it off but weirder things have happened.
By the way, what the hell happened to Lateek Townshend? Speaking of weird recruiting, etc. I know he left the program but anyone know what he's doing?

I have some friends who Graduated from OSU and they are sweating bullets about Carman. I have good feeling just like I did about XT. I guess this stuff is what makes it fun! ??

Na he knows 100k is very hard to do with amount of followers he has. I think these kids just do this for fun and at same time telling ppl they aren't ready to commit but let's have some fun see how much they really want me. Recruits just having fun is what it is. Copeland did this months ago for clemson when we were still going after him.
