I’ve said many times that pubs hate democracy. They do all that they can to limit voter turnout, or pick their voters when possible, and cheat anyway they can. In most cases it’s the only way they can win.

Putting measures directly on the ballot circumvents the design of the founders. Also enacting law by a simple majority is a disaster; and we are living it.
