Northwestern making 70-85M more per season from tv than Clemson ? This guy was a genius. I remember him driving to mid tier market after mid tier market pitching the big ten network in the early 2000s. ESPN in early 2000s low balled the big ten and told Jim, you can roll the dice and go else where to air your games and Jim said consider them rolled . He sent that ESPN executive a bottle of champagne the first year the network turned a profit .

first one went to the jaguar dealership, dressed pretty shabbily, and told them he wanted to test drive a Jag becuase he was thinking about buying it for his future brother in law. The salesman looked him over and said they couldn't let just anyone drive their sportscars...So, he went to Atlanta, paid cash for a 911 and drove back to the dealership and showed the salesman the pink slip. The second one was my partner in two commercial buildings I own part of. I brought Bob Ingles to my partner's office to discuss his buying 7 acres we had across from the old Wal Mart in Easley. When we gave Mr. Ingles the price, $35,000 per acre, Mr. Ingles saind,"Wow, that's kind of high". My partner, Bill Allgood, who everybody in Easley knew as a fair, but hard man, said,"Mr. Ingle, it might be a little high...it might even be unreasonable......but it don't matter"......Well sir, as soon as Mr. Ingle left, Bill said to me, "Go put us a deal together and I will finance it". He did his own thing and we built a building each for Little Pigs and Pizza Inn . In twenty plus years, we may have lost 12 months rent total...Best deal I ever made....
I heard a sports writer on WCCP the other day the actually said Swofford was a forward thinker who kept the ACC ahead of the curve. I couldnot believe my ears. IMHO,Swofford was so connected to UNC and the basketball brand of the ACC that he lost all insight as to what was happening. If he was a forward thinker, he would have seen that Texas and Oklahoma were pretty good at basketball and very good at football.....He could have poached them MANY years ago...and the ACC might have survived....I don't see us making it much longer...

caps and a nice home..
in that he was smart early on & made investments that paid off and the present residential-commercial real estate sales are primarily a delightful hobby that keeps him hopping & active.

One of my contractor clients performs almost all of the work for Northwestern University and I've had the opportunity to tour many of their new facilities.

Francis my dear dear friend I have toured both campuses . I love Clemson it’s sad to see the end is near but you should see the new facilities at Northwestern you would be amazed and they are getting bids on a 180m facility as well.

Clemson did well in the pre super conference era that is true . But today is a new day and you can thank Jim Delany for that . Big Ten is for life. The ACC is not.
