I hope I'm not insulting a lot T-net members' intelligence

Apr 27, 2012, 5:34 PM

when I say this, and I surely don't mean to be a debbie downer on a Friday, but I don't know if people realize how difficult it's going to be to be for Clemson (and other schools) to compete with the Southeastern conference football programs in the forseeable future. What i mean is, is I'm not sure people fully grasp how powerful that conference has become and the extent of competitivie advantages they have obtained as a byproduct. It surely does not help when one of those advantages involves the enforcement of rules by oversight agency for all NCAA member schools, but it quite obviously does. And think about this, who is going to report on the actions of the NCAA infractions committee? ESPN? I think not.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that between the monster that is ESPN and their incredible impact on college sports, both financially and in other ways, and an oversight committee that's either afraid or in bed with the SEC, I just see the gap potentially widening between the SEC and everybody else.

I know this probably won't be received very favorably on here, but I'm afraid it's very realistic, and if you take emotion out of things, I believe that it's hard to deny.

They were darn smart to hire Slive, a lawyer, from the NCAA.

I don't know why we (ACC) hired dummy Swoffie. That was years ago.

Now yes, ESPN gives the SEC lots of money. But, let's not forget that they give us money too, just not as much.

What scares the daylights out of me is how well Slive renegotites the current SEC TV deals. If he gets anywhere close to what is whispered, we are going to be at a SIGNIFICANT disadvantage. I know some people here pooh pooh that. Fine. But when Slive negotiates a home run of a deal with ESPN and CBS, there will be an epic meltdown on TNET as never before. It is really scary to think. I know that dummy Swoffie is trying to get Notre Dame into the ACC. But if he does, I'm going to wait to read the conditions. Notre Dame people have an ego that makes the Texas Longhorns look like Dale Carnegie graduates. Notre Dame won't come in as equal partners. That idiot Swofford will give them what they want. Then what?
