I have watched several regional games over the weekend off

and on, so this is not a perfect case study. But, so far, I have only seen one batter strike out looking. These teams, Virginia, Old Dominion, GT, Vandy....they foul off pitches defending the plate....THAT IS ONE AREA WE HAVE TO IMPROVE ON NEXT YEAR.

But didn't I hear CML say he didn't believe in small ball, choosing instead to depend on the HR. Did I imagine that from about 3-4 years ago?
I am agreeing with you that we have too many strike outs but I'm assuming that Monty sees it as the trade off in swinging for the fence each and every pitch.

I agree, We need to be more aggressive at the plate. Watch our girls softball team. They want to hit. Maybe next year we ll see some change.

I can live with the strike outs, as long as we are at least

trying to defend the plate. But, I bet we led the country in strike outs looking.....It is like we are still looking for that one pitch even with two strikes. These teams I just watched for a couple of games did not do that.

Monte Lee co hosting with packer and Durham ? Why ? Loser! Hope he hosts there better than a home regional ! What’s the infatuation with that loser?

Interesting fact along that line of thinking....
I heard recently that Clemson finished 2nd in the ACC in sacrifice bunts this season.
People keep bagging on Monte for waiting for the longball and not playing any smallball, but this season's results show a different approach.
Neither of those things however have anything to do with striking out looking or striking out in general.
Clemson's baseball team struck out too much this year and there is really no other way to put it.

I didn't watch many games this year, but if this team has ever bunted intentionally and competently it would be a first.
Most of the times I've seen bunt attempts it's pretty obvious the player has no interest in doing it and doesn't know what they are doing which is criminal at this level.

I'm confused by your comment.
The team was not 2nd in the conference in bunt attempts with lots of failures included in the number.
They were 2nd in the conference in SUCCESSFUL sacrifice bunts.
To finish 2nd in the conference they must have been at least competent for the season as a whole.
The main problem with this Clemson team was not getting runners into scoring position, whether by bunt or not, but actually scoring them once they got to 2nd or 3rd base.
Also to respond to your comment about it being "criminal at this level" that players can't bunt...
How many times do you expect Clemson players were asked to sacrifice their out with a bunt in high school to move a runner?
Clemson is signing players who for the most part carry their high school teams and are relied upon to produce on offense. They are not coming to Clemson after a lifetime of sacrifice bunting only to forget how to do it once they get to Clemson.
Clemson is most likely having to teach some of their players to bunt at a high level against college pitching. It should be a skill they improve upon quickly, but to suggest that these kids have been "bunting their whole life" as some do is just nonsense.
