Top 8 Wins over USC

Mar 21, 2013, 6:50 AM

I'm putting together a bracket of the Top 8 Wins over USC (while my cohort is doing the same for USC) and I'd like some feedback from everyone on which 8 games they would include and how they would seed them.

I realize we won't all have the same opinions, but I'm looking for at least getting a solid feel for the 8 and we can go from there.

Here's the group I currently have (in no particular order)

1959 - Final Big Thursday game with Frank Howard's kiss
2003 - 63-17
1977 - The Catch I
2000 - The Catch II
1989 - 45-0
1980 - Orange Pants
2005 - 1st and 35
Slot open - could be 1960 - Inaugural game in Clemson, 2007 - last second field goal , 2000 - 0-11 for USC, winning 7 in a row back in the 30's, etc...

Thanks!

I don't think we've played USC 8 times in our history...

Mar 21, 2013, 8:01 AM

...if at all.

I think we lost to them in 1966 30-0

Well, that's a bummer.***

I would say

2008: Spurrier gets beat by a WR coach... although I can hear the coot's comebacks now, so proceed with caution with that one

I just plan on keeping quiet until we beat them again***

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

in other words "the next one" should be #1***

Clemson is 6-17 against the Gamecocks

Mar 21, 2013, 11:57 AM

Clemson is 6-17 against the Gamecocks in years where we had at least 7 wins. Clemson's record against us is more a result of how bad we have been rather than how good Clemson has been. to prove that point, we've never lost to Clemson if we had 9 or more wins. When the Gamecocks have won 7 games or more, they have beaten Clemson 74% of the time.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

and you aren't ashamed of posting that?

Mar 21, 2013, 12:04 PM

and we only half-jokingly say y'all are pathetic. just look at the overall record!

Isn't it against the Geneva Convention to torture facts ?

If so, go check in at the nearest jail.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's pretty pathetic of you to have to post something like

Mar 21, 2013, 12:52 PM [ in reply to Clemson is 6-17 against the Gamecocks ]

this on your rivals board as we discuss a few of our MANY wins over you!!

Just Sayin

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Make it idjit proof and someone will make a better idjit.

So you've had 7 wins or more only 23 times in 100+ years

Mar 21, 2013, 1:10 PM [ in reply to Clemson is 6-17 against the Gamecocks ]

of football and you're using that as a source of pride?

It must have really SUCKED to be a gamecock fan for any extended period of time.

Go #####. I guess.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, about 25%

Mar 21, 2013, 1:20 PM

Clemson has had 7 or more in less than half their games. Not quite the big tradition school y'all claim to be is it?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I meant half their seasons.

Mar 21, 2013, 1:21 PM

I can't edit anymore since I'm no longer a contributor.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So....now you're laughing at us because we've ONLY done

Mar 21, 2013, 1:23 PM [ in reply to Yeah, about 25% ]

it 50% of the time, when you have only done it about 22%?!

I'm glad I didn't "ignore" you (yet). You are a truly funny, funny guy.

On the flip side

Mar 21, 2013, 1:27 PM [ in reply to Clemson is 6-17 against the Gamecocks ]

You're 0-16 against Clemson when you have at least 7 losses...

So, 16 times you've had 7 losses, but you want to focus on the 5 times you've hit 9 wins...
