I bothered that I'm not bothered by last night's loss.....

Nov 6, 2022, 10:31 AM

I'm numb to how this team plays, the play calling, the inconsistency, etc.

I'm not even sure what our offensive identity is.

And the D, yeah, they can rush a passer (who's 5' 11") but was not able to stop the run even though they knew it was coming (that's called manning up!). Luckily the DBs were safe from being picked on last night.

This team does not have an identity or any real charisma. When is the last time there was a player like Nuke, Sammy, Boyd (to some degree), DeShawn, Mike Williams, Amari Rodgers, Renfrow, Gallman, Etienne that gave you a since of confidence or excitment that the next play could be a TD.

One more thing, let's talk play calling...

1st and 10 pass down field incomplete
What's the next play >50% of the time?
2nd and 10 run up the middle!!!
3rd and 8 potluck play call

This season is not lost but these days if you don't make the playoff I'm not sure what it means?

It's just not exciting. Maybe it me but since 2016 it has not felt the same. Going into the 2016 championship game through all the years of effort by the coaches and players...as fans we felt we had a sense of investment in the team and outcome, even if it was just mental, going to games and donating to IPTAY.

Hunting is better than being hunted!

I'm always bothered by a loss, but harbored few delusions that we were good enough to be a CFP team.

We might have gotten into the CFP, but we were never 'deserving' of being there. Notre Dame should have been our only legit opponent if we were truly a CFP worthy team, but we struggled mightily against WF and struggled against an already-depleted Syracuse team ... being bailed out by a dubious personal foul call when Cade K. was running towards out-of-bounds on an otherwise failed 3rd down conversion.

We have been (generally speaking) improving each week ... which was good. But we had not reached any 'elite' looking status. Look at LSU. Started out the year discombobulated, but got it together (with their great talent.)

By the time last night's game had arrived, I was hoping that N.Dame was too weak with their DBs and offense to beat us. But I wasn't shocked that they physically man-handled us, since the there is not a defense in the ACC that has a pulse for us to gauge whether or not Clemson was 'elite.'

We are not elite, and looks like you and I had both figured that our before N.Dame game.

We will still have a great season ... but just not CFP worthy.

I agree that it's somehow a hard team to connect with

even as a Clemson fan.

It's just not a team that I feel like I have the same emotional connection to. And it's not to do with not being as good as the previous teams because I had more feeling about the Boyd teams, heck even many of the 2000s teams.

The offense is just so hard to watch. Cole Stoudt’s unit looked better. Colossal f ups are the expected outcome on offense. I miss the time when they were the exception.

What I’m starting to figure out is Dabo isn’t trying to keep/hire the best coaches possible. Instead he’s running an employment agency for former players who can’t get coaching jobs elsewhere.
