Potential conundrum for the committee

What if DUKE wins out and is ACC champs at 12-1?
Not likely, I know, but possible.
They play Syr, VT, UNC, Wake, and then likely FSU in Clt.
The only game that will take a greater than normal effort is FSU. Also, remember FSU is not as good as last year.
It would be interesting to see.

Their schedule would be so bad outside of the FSU win

that would be a really scary situation for Duke fans and anyone pulling for an ACC team in the playoff. I think that would really open the door for at least 1 2-loss team in ahead of them.

But it would be comparable to a B1G champ schedule

and if FSU is undefeated at that point, how could you keep them out?
Regardless of who it is, I hope the committee looks at resume's and not names. I'd hate to see 2011 all over again.

Well if Michigan St were to win out they would have wins

over Nebraska, Ohio State, and then probably Wisc or Nebraska again in the championship game. Their loss would be @Oregon.
Duke's best 3 wins would be FSU, @GT, and like @Pitt. Their loss is a double digit one @Miami which is significantly worse than @Oregon.
Would you feel comfortable that the committee would take Duke over Mich St there because i wouldn't. I think they would need help from other teams losing creating more 2-loss champions.

based on their comments about the importance of conference championships
leaving out a 12-1 power conference champion in favor of a 1 or 2 loss non conference, or even division, champ would be no beuno

Are you saying a 12-1 team that wins a power conference is a conundrum for the committee because they play an ACC schedule?
If Clemson had beaten FSU, finished 12-1 as the ACC champion, would you have the same opinion?
Doesn't Clemson play a similar ACC schedule?
Why would it be a conundrum if Duke goes 12-1, beats FSU; but you would probably get highly upset if the Tigers did the same and lost out playoffs to a 12-1 Michigan State team?

Hard for a chicken brain to keep up but think of it like this. SEC east vs SEC west......

So if Clemson beats FSU, loses away game to GA, goes 12-1 in the ACC, wins ACC Champ game, they deserve a spot. If Duke beats FSU, loses away game to Miami, goes 12-1 in the ACC, wins ACC Champ game, they do no deserve a spot?
Makes perfect sense. No bias at all that I can see.

It's a different situation for several reasons.

1) Our loss was to a better team (i think) with essentially our back up QB. If Watson comes back and plays as impressively as he did earlier in the year we would get a bit of a pass for some of the games he did not play.
2) Our overall schedule is better than Duke's. Louisville is better than Miami, BC is better than than anyone else over in the coastal, etc. Duke's OOC schedule is Elon, Troy, Kansas, and Tulane. Elon is 1-8 in the FCS, and Kansas, Tulane, and Troy are a combined 5-20 on the season. Our OOC schedule is @UGA, SC ST, Ga ST, and USC. GA State stinks, but SC ST is at least a decent FCS team and we have 2 SEC opponents which probably gives us the toughest OOC schedule in the country alone amirite?
3) We would also potentially get a win over an 11-1? Duke team in the ACCCG in this scenario in addition to the win we would've already gotten @FSU.
If you can't see the difference i dunno what to tell you.
