Lasamuel Davis is listed at 6'4" - 215 Lbs.....does anyone

know if he has put on any weight this summer? With his speed, I was hoping he could get up to around 230 or so and be used as a change of pace type end rusher on passing downs. I think the guy can play, but guess he needs to gain some weight (muscle) to be effective. I guess if he can get to the QB, it may not matter, but he is going to have to go around the tackles that are blocking him!

To be honest, we're at the point in the program where he may never see material playing time his whole career here unless he does actually put on some good weight - and that's okay.
He's the kind of developmental guy you probably want to get; not some of the other takes we've had in recent years.

If he can excel on special teams (which is what we need)..

maybe he can get on the field. I'm not sure how much we will need him, but I would love to see him develop into all that he can be! I want that for all of our players.

Redshirt and then year 2 he should be about 250 and I could see him being and elite speed rusher. We could use him then with our numbers at DE.

One thing I'll give him is he's got that ultra-explosive first step; he's lighter, but honestly he does kind of resemble Ricky Sapp coming out of high school.
I personally think he does contribute down the line...he'll probably have to fight to get to 235 or 240 just because he really does have kind of a lean, long, angular frame that doesn't look like it's going to be easy to pack pounds onto, but considering how much production we got out of guys like Sapp and Vic Beasley, it's not a stretch to him develop into something like that in a couple years.

Now that idea as safety or Sam has merit. Put him on the field as Special Teams and give him time to develop. Might be great by his senior year like Dodd in 2015.
Go Tigers!

He may end up playing a hybrid DE/LB position on passing downs. The kid is fast and has a great nose for the football . He should play around 240 though ...that's my 2 cent.

Yeah....I thought about the safety spot too, and assumed

that he had good speed sincere also played receiver in high school. Right now, I am just guessing that her is going to have to make himself known on the special teams.....i.e. Shuey. ST is at least 75% desire and it tells the coaches who really wants to play!

Regardless what position he eventually plays, I believe he will redshirt in 2016.

We have to redshirt him first. With a year in prep school and then another redshirt year, he should start packing it on depending on how dedicated he is. Dedication and patience is the key though.

Just FYI, that 215 is VERY generous. He was closer to 195 when he got on campus. If he is 215 to 220 at the weight in we should be happy with his progress. If he gets to 240-250 by his third year on campus he will play.

All the weights and heights are off man, at least from what I can tell. If Trayvon Mullen is 6'3" 175lbs, someone buy that kid a fn cheeseburger! And Deshaun is listed as 210lbs but just said one day ago that he's 218lbs. I'm hoping they amend the bios / roster after fall camp weigh-in on 8/2 or whenever.
