I am getting ready for left hip replacement - if all goes well, doc wants to replace the right also - looks like mid-year or so,before I can get back to golfing ??? -- I know, different strokes for different folks, but just wondering how many of you have had the hip-replacements and got back to playing golf ??

I know one player who had no problems and another who is struggling, so it depends on the person.

I’m currently off the course with a foot tendon repair until April. Non weight bearing for two months. I can assure you that you have the potential to be better at golf than you are now. I’ve been beaten by many players who have had hip and knee replacements! 😀

Had right hip done in late 2010 at 63. Began playing again the next spring. Most of the time, it doesn't feel any different than the other. Since then have been able to play three rounds on consecutive days at our annual outing with little effect. Can play twice weekly when time permits. First post-op visit with the Dr here in NC discovered he graduated from Usuc for pre med and Tenn for medical. Was wearing an orange shirt and he asked if it was UT orange. He had both his done in his 40s due to degenerative issues and told me during a couple pre-op visits mine would be no problem. Should've done it two years sooner. Leg bone attachment was metal with a non metal socket. Another condition which helped the result was my weight. Good luck with your procedure.

A friend of mine had a hip replacement and was going on our golf trips (and playing) about a year later. I do not know about getting both hips replaced.

Bulldog, send some of those back ups you got to Clemson. 😁 We will take those 5 stars you releasing for a better 5 star. Better still, send some of those rich boosters over instead.🙋♂️

Have a friend that had both knees replaced and said he had better movement in his golf game than before. I believe it was about 4 months when he went bank to playing.

Never played with someone that had that done but if it’s anything like some folks that had knee replacements you may have wished you would have done it sooner from what they tell me. Wish you well in your surgery and recovery!

Had a friend of mine have it done Tuesday. Most of the work was done by robotics. The surgeon merely opened and closed. He was home that night.

That is what they are telling me -- replacement from the front and won't have to cut two muscles -- hoping to go home same day*** -- 6 to 12 weeks was given a time frame, depending on "'me"" before I could get back to somewhat normal ?? hoping to have both done and back on the course by mid-year ??

I remember hearing John Smoltz talk about his hip replacement last summer, thought he said he was back playing in three months.
I had a three level lumbar fusion on July 24. I’m doing great and got a full release from my surgeon this week. Have my first big activity since surgery tomorrow, going rabbit hunting which I love to do. We usually walk 7-8 miles following the beagles, will see how it goes.
Hope all goes well and stick with the PT!
