Dave Claussen comments today.

Didn't catch all of it. Was watching ACC PM. They showed a clip where he seemed to be saying that the ACC had voted to expand. He talked about ACC now stretching from coast to coast. He also talked about this being a preventative measure to keep the ACC from falling below 14 teams.

I am with Claussen. I would hate to see the ACC to disappear. I hope that SMU, Stanford, and Cal being add to the ACC will stabilize and advance the ACC.

I’m indifferent. This conference is in the position it’s in due to poor leadership, nepotism, and too many institutions behind happy with riding ours, or FSU’s success. The crazy thing is there’s still people in conference leadership who focus on basketball like it’s the bread winner.

I too couldn't care less if the ACC was toppled by midnight. I'm old enough to remember the insane dealing that the ACC shoved down Clemson's throat once the NCAA past it's penalties on Clemson for recruiting violations that was done by an assistant coach/coaches, and the ACC took it Apon themselves to hammer one of its longest member schools with additional probation over what the NCAA had thought was fair. I've hated the ACC since that day of their unfair ruling that was equal to double jeopardy of being punished twice for the very same incident!!!

As long as Clemson is not part for the “acc” I could care less.

Thanks. It does seem as though the ACC will now stretch from coast to coast.

Claussen makes sense--there is no leadership at the top. The NCAA has been outdated for years. They never were effective, nor did they treat all colleges equally.

If true, I hope we got more concessions than more money for performance. That sounds nice for 5-7 years, but no one wants to address what happens after that, when the new teams are bringing in less than the current teams and the distribution is reallocated, and everyone is now making about $3 mil less a year. It was short sighted thinking that got us in this mess with the GOR.

The whole thing will change again before then so that part really doesn't matter much.

Hopefully. Would love to be in a conference with real leadership at some point. Our current conference treats us like their show pony, and not in a good way. Last year we open up on the road at GT and this year on the road at Duke. I’d be willing to put money on them having us be SMU’s first game, to start the season, in Dallas bc why the hell not.

I really believe all of this is a bandaid until the great reorg comes. ACC is just trying to survive as a conference until then. I thought Clawson did a great job of laying out the reality. In fact, he did it better than I've heard anyone else try and accurately articulate it so that it made some kind of sense.

I did like the analogy I read in an article earlier. The PAC 12 died but was an organ donor so the ACC could harvest some of its parts in order to survive ;)

I don’t have a problem with the ACC trying to survive, I just wish they would’ve started caring a long time ago. I don’t think any of this causes certain AD’s to improve their product and football will continue to be an after thought for 2/3-3/4 of the conference. Hopefully we got all the concessions we wanted out of this if we were the flip, and hopefully that was more than incentive based payouts.

I still don't understand how Clemson sit still and allowed Clemson to get trapped off in such a bad deal that seem to be iron clad for many years down the road. It's shocking that no one, BOT's, lawyers, the president couldn't see far enough ahead to realize the GOR deal was a very bad deal for the conference, and an awesome deal for ESECPN, and they signed off on it...

I remeber when I bought my house 20 years ago, and my lawyer and the finance officer tried to get me to make the loan a Variable Rate Loan, and I told my lawyer that I could make the payment set with the interest that I was getting the loan for right then just working part time, and I said no to the Variable interest Loan, and that was the best decision I've ever made in my life time. With my back injury forever taking me out of the work place, I would have long ago lost my house, but bc I said no to the variable interest rate loan, my house payment has remained under $500 a month, and I'm still in my house, and I can afford the payments to the end. Best choice I ever made bc, I couldn't rent as good place as I have now with the land for $457 bucks a month!!!!

He is 100% correct! The issue is lack of leadership!

The NCAA needed (needs) a commissioner that looks out for the whole entity! Probably too late at this point unfortunately. Hard to put the genie back in the bottle now.

The genie will never go back in the bottle bc it hated being trapped off in such a small space;)
