even though that team finished the season 5-7 after that?
Aren’t “late season collapses” what Brad is being vilified for here?
Not to mention, the next year, we had a losing record in the ACC and finished in the bottom half of the conference. But Barnes was great and Brownell is bad?
And Purnell is great because he got us to the ACC Tournament championship game - and LOST? The same guy who never won a single NCAA Tournament game?

Let's end the Brad hate talk once and for all. I doubt anybody here hates Brad. Certainly no one who claims to be a Christian. Brad is simply in way over his head in the ACC. Even in this down year, he can't succeed. A loss to a 2-23, 1-14 team is all anybody should need to know, even forgetting the last 12 seasons of abject mediocrity. Yes, there have been two high points - winning in Chapel Hill and making the Sweet 16. These are not enough if you aspire to have a consistently good basketball program. If you want inconsistent average teams, keep Brad. I would like a more consistent and better basketball program. The Clemson administration apparently does not. If Neff does, then Brad needs to go after his first or second round NIT loss. Sorry, but the truth is not always popular or accepted.

You are correct. I don't get the JK love affair with BB. Barnes and Purnell accomplished a lot more with lesser facilities. They EARNED great fan support. BB is grossly overpaid for what he delivers. I don't know why JK can't see or accept this. Must be a distant relative.

I do not hate Brad Brownell, but I do hate that he has been our HC in his 13th seasons of border line mediocre.

His record in solely because the ACC as a whole has sucked for the past few years. If there was ever a time to take advantage of this, it is now. Losing to a 3-23 team is inexcusable. In the old ACC he would have a max 5-6 conference wins this year. I like him but he can't get it done.

We could pay a dumb on his way out coach a lot less than what Brad is paid for about the very same results, or very close to the same results. It wouldn't be enough of a difference to earn anymore complaints.

For the use that I get out of both my nuts in my late years, I would give them both up for a coach just several games better a season than what we get from Brownell, I'll even give up the sack they hang around in!!!
