But looking at his records as a head coach are less than impressive. He has never won a conference championship. In three years at Maryland he finished 6th, 6th and 5th in the ACC. At Michigan he finished 2nd in 2017 & 2019 also no conference championship. He has played in a regional 4 of 7 years. Only 1 super regional and CWS in 2019. His conference record at Maryland was 20-70 and 140-93 at Michigan. His first year at Michigan he finished 5th in the conference and this year he finished 5th in the conference. I wish him the best and will support him but also see the facts of his previous years of coaching.

He did win the Big Ten Championship this season (2022)

He also was one win away from winning the national championship in 2019 - before losing the final two games to Vanderbilt.
There are definitely some accomplishments - definitely some positives.
Here's hoping he has GREAT success at Clemson!

According to everyone on board with this hire he's a great recruiter. Well how come he had to win the Big10 tournament just to get into the NCAA? If he had such a great roster he didn't do to good of a job against this pathetic schedule(12-12 in conference).

Here is the problem with fans of any sport. If the topic is support, there can never be a "but".

According to this season by season record Eric Bakich has never won a conference championship. According to this chart Michigan finished 2nd in 2017 and 2019. Maybe I did check my facts.

You're the conference champion by winning the tournament. Which Michigan did in 2015 and 2022.

We have to give the dude a chance....Everyone acts like baseball is only played in the southeast...There are very good ball players up North who like to come south to play...I love this hire and he has my full support 1000%...
Monte was a southern man with good ties for recruiting down here but failed miserably as our coach...That geographical excuse is lame

Yes I will support him but also look at the facts of who is being hired. I hope he has a long and successful career at Clemson. I would be very happy if he takes the Tigers to regionals, super regionals and CWS. I don’t understand why someone cannot look at a coaches past without rose colored glasses but still hope he’s the most successful coach in Clemson history.

Where is he from originally? Are there any ties to the south? I am also wanting to hear the AD say why this hire should excite Clemson fans.

Why is it important that he has ties to the south?

Would that make you like him more, or pull harder for him?
To answer your question, he played at East Carolina and was also an assistant at Clemson. He's also been an assistant at Vanderbilt.
So yes, he has plenty of ties to the south.
The hire should excite Clemson fans because our AD decided that he is the right fit for our program.
He has also done well at Michigan.

California.... Coached under Leggett and Corbin so a LOT of familiarity in the SE..... I'm pretty sure we'll hear from Neff soon....
