How has the floor been raised?
We're signing more highly rated recruits.
We're signing more highly desired transfers.
Our facilities are competive and about to get better.
We apparently have a culture players enjoy playing in.
We have little to no disciplinary issues.
We excel at academics, still important at CU.
The question is, can the ceiling be consistently raised?
It was raised for this season.
Can we reach a point of reloading instead of rebuilding?
Can we begin to string together tourney appearances with results?
Can we begin to sign some elite recruits/transfers fairly regularly?
Can we consistently be a player at the top of whichever conference we are in?
Can we continue to transition to the "modern" basketball Brad says Bama plays?
I do believe the floor has been raised significantly. Now the difficult part, becoming a school known for consistently good basketball. Brad will get several years minimum to accomplish this. This next season is a key one in the process. We have some good pieces returning, can we through the portal add what we need to continue this process? Could Chase return and obviously aid this process? Will Godfrey and Wiggins take steps like Sheff did this year?
It's definitely possible. We couldn't do it after the Sweet 16 run as that team slipped. Next year sees the chance to reverse that cycle.

I'm sure he has his eye on the portal. Can we keep who is due back and replace Joe, Jack, and PJ with good talent and similar skill set. PJ and Schief worked well together. RJ and Schief need some of that chemistry which seems doable.

Good post. I’m not sure Brad aspires to Bama’s version of modern basketball. I think there was some tongue in cheek in that statement. Bama is a live by the three and die by the three team. Defense is not good. Front court is subpar. Back court is exceptional. I think Brad prefers more athleticism and pure backcourt shooters, but not deviating from the complete team model. Bama definitely has a punchers chance with Sears, but I still think you will see Bama shutdown in the final four by the brand of basketball Brad prefers to emulate. Agree with you on all other points.

Think about it this way, we would’ve been in a final possession type game with them if we’d shot free throws well, and if Joe and PJ had made just a couple of those 3’s early we’d have cruised to the win. I realize that’s stating some “ifs”, but that is in spite of Sears and company going off with the ridiculous 3 shooting. Brad mentioned our big weakness was lack of athleticism getting back and guarding the threes. He mentioned even on made baskets they were beating us down the court to launch open 3’s. If you listen to Brad I think he wants an all around team, dominant post up front liners, but with better athleticism. I do not think Bama is the standard of modern basketball we need to emulate. I don’t think Brad believes this either.

Top tier recruits want to play up tempo by and large. I actually think we have transitioned to that more the last 2 years as we've had skilled guys. It is the athleticism that needs upgraded. Thing is finding guys who can guard, and shoot. Girard could shoot but was a liability on D. Dillon can guard but can't hit the ocean from the beach. Chase is more the model, as he can do both, though he's certainly not a jet. He has first step quickness and physicality.
These last 2 years we haven't been the plodding offense we have been so many years. He is trying to transition, though I don't think he's looking to lead the nation in scoring. Where we were this year, upper 70's on average is a big improvement. If we could get in the low 80's with athletes who can guard and shoot, I think that's the transition he's shooting for

All 3 of the recruits are very athletic. two guard jets and a long forward.

Dallas Thomas reminds me of Chauncey Wiggins but smaller. From what I've seen he'd be best suited to a redshirt season to put on 15 pounds. And although he's 6-8, 6-9, he doesn't like to mix it up inside. He's got a long way to go before he's considered an athlete on the ACC level.

Agreed. Those all around players are hard to come by. I hope Chase comes back for one more year. I think we could be very dangerous with him and the Air Force kid at guard spots.

his brother if he does come back. Basically 2 PG on the floor, which is never a bad thing. I think Hildeberger has to show he's athletic enough at this level. He can shoot, but he's never consistently guarded good players. Honestly, I'm viewing him as a Hemenway type until proven otherwise. Not a bad piece to have, because shooters are needed, but not a starter. Never viewed Hemenway as starter caliber.

We were a true point guard away this season from being really special. Add that to Brad's mix and we could definitely raise the ceiling and build supports to maintain it.
