Didn’t know the refs weren’t supposed to make a call if it’s “barley” a penalty. Mahomes has been saved so many ints from the refs now wants to cry foul.

Oh yea. Cryin Day and the entire Ocryo St nation after our playoff win in 2019. They cried for a whole year after that game. I ran into one this past summer that was still crying over the incomplete pass they thought was a scoop and score.

It was a penalty that you hate to lose a game on. But to be fair, how many times does the clock expire before they get the snap off and they let it go?

They don't let it go. The rule is, the referee watches clock, and then when it hits zero, looks at the center. If the ball is snapped by the time the referee looks down, it is by rule a legal play.

I’ve seen some who must be awfully slow looking back to see if the ball is snapped  But, I get your point.

I just watched an interview with an official who said this was hardly ever called in the past but this is the first year where they emphasized calling it more. He said it was called twice last year and once in 2021. He said so far this year it has been called 12 times.
That might have fed into some of the post-game frustration.
